JUN 30, 13 .. ALASKA .. GEESE AND THE SEWARD HIGHWAY ..

In the photos below we are basically south of the Anchorage city limits .. as one begins the drive south down the Seward Highway.

Here in Alaska during the summer months the Canada Geese are very visible.  Did I say visible?  It might be more accurate to say .. to some degree .. they 'take-over' THEIR city and state!

The Seward Highway is the only road heading south from Anchorage.  In the photos below we have come south of the Anchorage city limits on the Seward Highway.

On the right below we see the Southern end of Cook Inlet. To the far left of the below photo the Turnagain Arm of Cook Inlet begins.
The below photo looks across the beginning of the Turnagain Arm of Cook Inlet.

JUN 12, 13 .. ALASKA .. THE CITY OF ANCHORAGE ..

Both Patti and I remain saddened by the passing of her friend 'Atta' .. please refer to the next post below this post .. so I have been remiss on posts here on Blogspot.

So 'gathering-up' myself .. I decided to show you all some more photographs of the local Anchorage area very near to where we live.

The mountains in the background of the below photos are what I am trying to emphasize showing the overall beauty of what we are so lucky to see on a daily basis.

The above and below photos are of the same scene only a closer look below.  Frankly they look like photographs of framed pictures as they have a somewhat surreal look to them.

JUN 7, 13 .. 'ATTA' .. WE ALL WILL MISS YOU SO MUCH ..

Today Patti and I are in contemplative moods.  Last Saturday 'Atta' .. a friend (our ages) Patti has known forty-five years enjoyed dinner with another friend. After their dinner out together each of them returned to their separate homes.

Later in the evening 'Atta' called her friend to say she was having trouble breathing.  In the ten (10) minutes it took her friend to reach her .. 'Atta' had passed away. Just-like-that!  Snap-your-fingers!  Gone!  She had no signs what-so-ever of being ill.

Her memorial service .. a celebration-of-her-life .. followed by a very pleasant reception .. was this afternoon.  It was warm and intimate.  Each of us released a helium-filled balloon into the afternoon sky outside the church after the service.  Patti and I are still feeling the lumps-in-our-throats as we watched all of the balloons go skyward.

Patti, myself and all-who-knew 'Atta' remain stunned!

I hope you enjoy the below photos of Anchorage.

Turn right 1/2-mile further down the road to the right in the below photo and you are at Patti's Condo.

Patti's Condo.

The snow is all-but-gone. It is June in Alaska!  Spring is Springing!

IT IS ONLY WITH THE HEART THAT ONE CAN SEE RIGHTLY.

Rest In Peace 'Atta' .. we all will miss you .. Cap, Patti and all-of-us!

JUN 4, 13 .. ALASKA .. THE CITY OF ANCHORAGE ..

IF I waited to get this web site absolutely perfect .. there would be NO web site here.  I would be permanently stuck in procrastination waiting until I could get things perfect.  Then paralysis would set in and there you would have it .. nothing .. absolutely nothing.

When I finished the Hong Kong portion of my recent trip I sat .. wondering where to go next.  My web mistress Gullible said .. "Post some photos of Anchorage!" and so I did what Gullible said to do .. "I posted some photos of Anchorage."

Instead of starting in the center of Anchorage and working South .. which is the proper or perfect way .. I started by posting photographs taken at the extreme South end of the city.  Now .. using 20-20 Hindsight .. I wish I had started in the central part of Anchorage and then worked South.  Well I didn't do this!

BUT! .. I DID continue to post here on Blogspot and maintained my 'momentum' by publishing at least a few post-Hong-Kong photographs of Anchorage.

So today we are going to 'jump back North' and into the City of Anchorage proper.  As I just said above .. in the past several days I have had us at the extreme South end of Anchorage and starting to drive South down the Seward Highway.

So below are some views of Anchorage as seen within the city proper.

Do any of you .. by chance .. remember the traffic in Pondicherry in India?

We even have traffic here in Alaska!

I hope that you are 'noticing the distant scenery' above and below!
In which traffic jam (India or Anchorage) would you prefer to be stuck in?

There will be more tomorrow.  Count-on-it!   ..  Cap

JUN 3, 13 .. ALASKA .. THE CITY OF ANCHORAGE ..

Below are three more photographs taken at the southernmost limit of the City of Anchorage.

The railroad tracks you see below originate in Anchorage and then run South to the city of Seward.  To the right of the railroad tracks you see a body-of-water. This body-of-water is the southern end of Cook Inlet. Going South (as we will do in future photographs) you will see photographs of 'Turnagain Arm' of Cook Inlet.
The road (not visible in these photos) along the left side of the railroad tracks is the Seward Highway which I showed in my previous post dated 2 June 2013.  The Seward Highway is considered to be one of the most scenic highways in all of the United States.

JUN 2, 13 .. ALASKA .. THE CITY OF ANCHORAGE ..

I myself marvel at the beauty of Alaska. I think that in India  there would have to be several hundreds of millions of people who would happily trade places with me. It is so cool (cool as in chilly) with temperatures in the 12 C range!

As with my post of yesterday .. the below photos were taken at the extreme Southern part of Anchorage.

The road you see in the above and below photographs is the Seward Highway that stretches from Anchorage south to the City of Seward.  This highway is considered to be one of the most scenic highways in all of the United States.
To the right in the below photograph is Cook Inlet.

Below are three photographs of the most southern part of the city of Anchorage in Alaska.
The road in the above and below photographs is the Seward Highway from Anchorage to the City of Seward.

As we enter the month of June the snow is melting rapidly.
