Today is Monday (this will be important later) January the 28th.
Tomorrow morning, Tuesday, January 29th at 9am (0900 hours), on the Trans-Siberian Railway, I will leave Tayshet Russian Siberia and return to Irkutsk, my home away from home in Siberia.
On my other website dot.net I explained that the proper pronunciation of Tayshet is Taishet.
How do I put this?
Taishet looks exactly, and Taishet looks precisely, how I expected Russian Siberia to look. This will be my last chance to show you some photos of Taishet.
I doubt very much that I shall ever return.
The below photos were snapped-at-random (that is to say, one right after another, NOT looking for special scenes or scenery) from the front seat of a taxi.

Across the street from the museum, in front of a school, is a very basic monument to Vladimir Lenin.

Too bad the museum was closed, but at least you tried .. and you got lots of pictures of the streets of Tayshet from the front seat of the taxi! It is really nice, I think, that you and Mike have made these two stops (Mariinsk and Tayshet), to actually get off the Trans-Siberian Railway and stay in both places for a few days. Maybe it gave you a chance to catch your breath and experience a couple of smaller towns/cities without meetings and places you HAD to be. Again, nice. Hugs. Patti
ReplyDeleteI did successfully get a Trip Advisor post published for the Taishet museum contributing many photos (17) of the exterior of the museum, the first such photos ever posted of its exterior. Taishet is to me down to earth basic living here in Siberia. The real deal. And the wind drives the cold right through you. Today I'll even wear my Alaska Cabin Sweater under my parka.
