OCT 28, 19 .. IRKUTSK .. TRUD STADIUM

Here we are, back in Irkutsk, my 'home base' for the nine plus months that I spent in Russian Siberia. Patti was with me for almost five of those months (mid February to early July 2019) and we two have shared many happy and pleasant memories of our visit. Trud Stadium and its fountain are among them.

I wrote a review of it for Trip Advisor.

https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g298527-d10418726-r685867859-Sports_Palace_Trud-Irkutsk_Irkutsk_Oblast_Siberian_District.html

We'll begin with a look at the very pleasant fountain that fronts Trud Stadium.

Trud Stadium is on Lenin Street a main thoroughfare and we saw it almost daily as we passed it riding the Number 1 Tram.

What a difference it is to see Trud Stadium in the summer months as compared to the winter months when the fountain is not in use.

One of the ticket offices.

As is the case with many public facilities here in Russia that I have visited, Trud Stadium is clean to the point of being immaculate.

The Russians like and participate in a wide range of sporting activities so it did not surprise me that their sporting stadiums and arenas are state-of-the-art.

  1. I always looked forward to seeing this fountain, both from the #1 Tram and when we were walking around the fountain. Other people also seemed to enjoy it as well. Ah, Irkutsk, many happy memories! Smiles and love, Patti

    1. You were here in February / March / April when it was bleak and the fountain was not flowing so you actually did not even notice it that much. What a difference it made when the warm months arrived and it became active again. Wonderful indeed. Fun to look forward to seeing on our outings. Love Cap

  2. How intriguing you spent a good amount of time in that city in Siberia. I like the interior photos you took with the large palm like trees.

    1. Irkutsk was our home base during the nine months I / we spent in Russian Siberia. Patti and I had a small flat near the Angara River where we loved to walk in the evenings during the warm spring and summer months. Being there in the winter I also enjoyed walking beside the Angara cold or no cold. Thanks so much for your comment. Cap and Patti
