APR 30, 21 .. YUMA, ARIZONA .. YUMA ARMED FORCES PARK

I am very proud of the fact that, beginning with my father who served in the United States Coast Guard, continuing with myself who served as an enlisted member of the United States Marine Corps and later as a commissioned officer in the United States Navy as a member of the Seabees, then down to my eldest son who served in the United States Army and finally my youngest son who served in the United States Air Force, three generations of my family served honorably in the United States Armed Forces.

As a result, even when outside of the United States, I seek out and visit Military Memorials.

I lived briefly here in Yuma, Arizona, back in late 1963 into early 1964, so visiting the Yuma Armed Forces Park is very special for me.

Finally, I must add that both Patti's father and her eldest brother served honorably in the United States Navy.

Looking back at the above entrance area from within the Park.

Into the Park we now walk.

A beautiful late Spring afternoon here in Yuma, Arizona.

We salute all who served our nation.

APR 28, 21 .. YUMA, ARIZONA .. ROXABOXEN PARK

Patti and I (as we have done during our prior visits here to Arizona) recently again visited Yuma, located down in the extreme Southwestern corner of Arizona.

On one of my tried and trusted websites that I visit, Trip Advisor, a website that I have been active on myself since April of 2016, I was surfing Things To Do in Yuma, Arizona, and I happened upon the most interesting name of a park here, Roxaboxen Park. I looked over the reviews and noted everyone suggests you first read a children's book titled Roxaboxen. So Patti and I visited the Main Yuma Library, we went to the children's book area, and with the help of a very friendly librarian, we got the book and read it.

One absolutely must be willing to go back in time and see the park, not for what it appears to be now, a rock strewn field, but far more, a collage of memories from years ago.

Below are photos of several pages of the book itself.

Please join us as we share with you, Roxaboxen Park in Yuma, Arizona.

So out and off Patti and I went to, yet another time, visit Roxaboxen Park. It was really a fun visit and special in many ways to relive the ability of children once-upon-a-time long ago to create a world of fantasy.

And?

Now to the actual park itself.

Above you see the entrance into the park as it appeared back in 2018. Below you see it, much improved and updated, as it appeared earlier this month.

Patti and I each picked up one of these rocks.

Now we will walk out into the park itself.

IF you choose, you can adopt the attitude that it is just a mishmash field of rocks.

However, IF you so choose, you can get-in-touch with the spirituality and the magic of Roxaboxen Park.

Now we are going to look closer at some of the more decorated rocks that abound in the park.

Surprise ! We are going to end this post with three photos of the many blooming cactus plants that surround Roxaboxen Park.

We hope that, in some small way, you found some of the joy we found here at Roxaboxen Park in Yuma, Arizona.
