OCT 16, 14 .. TWO NIFTY SHOPS IN NEW ENGLAND ..

Goodness !  It seems that every place Patti and I turn .. there are some very 'NIFTY' shops.

"Well hello there 'Zilla.  Nice to have you and your phrase NIFTY along with us today!"

So here we take a look at .. Weather Vane Shops .. in New England.  Since this is a program of honesty .. one was in Manchester Vermont and the other in Wells Maine.

How 'Nifty' is this !  The Flying Cow Hand Carved Signs.

Do you all see the 'FLYING COW' flying-over-the-moon!

Below are some 'Weather Vanes' that they also sell.

I think that this little pig is on his way to the market.

Do any of you remember the ditty about the Keeper Of The Eddystone Light?  The below beautiful Mermaid made me think of it!  We used to sing it in Boy Scouts! 

Well you can't say that Ol' Bobba isn't willing to assist you who have poor memories!

Oh the lighthouse keeper of the Eddystone light
Slept with a mermaid one fine night
And from this union there came three ..
A porpoise and a porgy and the other was me!Yo ho ho, the wind blows free,

One night, as I was a-trimming the glim

Patti and I are staying in Ogunquit, Maine.  Just North of us is Wells, Maine.  We are IN the library in Wells and literally .. just across the street (US Hwy 1 or Post Road) I spied the below shop.

Oh Come On .. how 'NIFTY' is this ?

WARNING ! ..  Puff the Magic Dragon is here in Wells, Maine!  Women and small children beware of Puff!

WHAT'S WITH .. New England and all of these Mermaids?

As I write .. Patti and I are within 'sniffing distance' of the Atlantic Ocean ..

I think that Patti has some Ocean Blood running within her veins.

DEC 27, 11 .. GOA .. ARAMBOL BEACH SHOPS

I am not down on all the stores here in ARAMBOL BEACH at all.. in fact many I really enjoy passing and just looking in as I walk by .. here are but a few.. 

The World Peace German Bakery is one shop that  I actually patronize regularly since Niklas from Sweden got me turned onto buying bread .. in fact Niklas took me here .. very good bread and a good selection of other products as well .. as you can see  by studying the below photo .. it is a bit more than only a bakery ..

 The below two shops are just a kick ..  one beside the other .. a contrast in products you would say for certain .. I need say no more .. smiles ..

 The below spice and tea shop certainly is a favorite of mine although I purchase neither .. IF this shop was at home I would be a regular customer .. the spices are on the left (see photo below this one) and the teas are on the right (see the second photo below this one) .. "Cap what is it you love so much about India ?" .. the man who owns or runs the shop politely stepped outside for me to snap the photo although I sort of wanted him IN the photo ..

 Can you smell the spices where you are .. I enjoy smelling them as I pause ..

 How about all of the teas .. can you taste them .. they almost make me want to become a tea drinker ..

 Herbal and holistic Ayurvedic Medicine is an ancient and widely practiced and well respected art here in India ..

 If you have IT .. they have a cure for you ! .. this is a close up of the sign in the above photo on the left front of the shop ..

 Moving right along .. IF music and DRUMS are your thing .. well trust me .. they have one just for you here in Arambol Beach .. how about a guitar to go with your drum .. they have them also .. how about a gourd to 'shake rattle and roll' with the drums and guitars .. they've got 'em too ..

 I thought with the below close up photo .. you might want to reach into the screen and plunk one of the drums .. 

 

 Trust me on this .. as with all of India .. there are NO free rides .. each of the above shops have a number of competitors .. yes there even is another German Bakery further up the street almost to the beach .. and the 'daily needs stores' also have EXCELLENT bread delivered to them from outside of Arambol Beach bakeries .. competition here in India is brutal ..

DEC 23, 11 .. GOA .. ARAMBOL BEACH ..

This post is especially for Patti .. below is a photo you have seen previously .. and you got a kick out of it .. so I have brought it back ' just for the memories ' and to re-fresh your memory of the photo.. so study it for just a second .. notice the lettering on the sign is red on a blue background .. notice the light yellow or light tan walls on either side of the little hardware store right here in tiny Arambol Village ..as you slowly scroll down .. study the store front ..

When I went to check out the trains over in Pernem .. the day before  yesterday .. the 21st of December .. I waited for my bus on a different road than the road on which the above hardware store is located .. the road north forks into a 'Y' and the above photo is on the left fork of the 'Y' .. guess what .. you will NEVER guess in TINY Arambol Village .. but take a guess as to what I spied on the road that veers off onto the right fork of the 'Y'.. give up .. peek below now ..

 Can you believe TWO (2) hardware stores in TINY Arambol Village .. and they definately ARE TWO DIFFERENT hardware stores .. this one has doors on each side of it.. I could hardly believe this .. many SMILES and much LOVE .. giggle..

NOV 18, 11 (2/4) .. GOA .. ARAMBOL BEACH ..

ARAMBOL in north GOA consists of two settlements.. ARAMBOL and ARAMBOL BEACH.. I am living in a guest house in Arambol BEACH.. to get to ARAMBOL I have to walk about one half a mile.. I go from my guest house to a 'main' road.. turn left and walk north 'a bit' .. and arrive in ARAMBOL 'proper'.. these two photos are of the local farmer's market.. how neat is this ?

TOURISTS AND LOCAL RESIDENTS ALIKE.. all are seen shopping at this farmer's market.. love the scene.. LOVE it all..
