MAR 17, 13 .. DAILY BREAD'S MAGNIFICENT THAI FRUIT AND VEGETABLE SALAD !

Ten (10) fruits and vegetables!  Grapes, carrots, green beans, pineapple, papaya, apples, oranges, tomatoes, cucumbers and two red cherries!  Three (3) flowers.    

Below I did a close-up of the three (3) flowers!

I took fourteen (14) photos of today's salad.

What I call 'The Main Flower' is the flower on the right below.  It is a four-petal carrot with a lovely 'tomato-rose' in its center!

On its left is a full 'tomato-rose' and finally a lime flower.

'Zilla a 'tomato-rose' is a rose that is made sculpting a tomato skin into a rose.  In real life they look so real that yesterday I actually bent-down to 'smell' the rose!

I could NOT get .. to my satisfaction .. the perfect photo of the main flower on the right below.

Patti I am out of adjectives!

This magnificent salad for a cost of 70 Rs or $1.40 US !

I feel so humble at the attention I am getting with my salads!

These salads could proudly be served to the President!  

MAR 16, 13 .. OUI ! OUI ! .. DAILY BREADS CHAMPIONSHIP SALAD ..

When I left my room at noontime today for MY Salad at Daily Bread .. I actually thought for (only) one instant that .. "Today I don't think I need my camera!  How can this salad possibly get any better?" 

So off-to-lunch WITH my camera I went!  When THE SALAD arrived I could NOT believe what lay before me!

Amazing .. absolutely .. positively .. AMAZING!

Well for those of you following along here .. this is the seventh (7th) consecutive day beginning last Sunday .. March 10th .. in which I have photographed my Thai Fruit and Vegetable Salad at the Daily Bread Restaurant!

So after seven (7) days the wait-staff are very used to my routine.  I get my salad.  I ooh and I aah and I fuss over my salad.  Then I take numerous photographs of my salad.

Today's salad was so OVER-THE-TOP in being absolutely exceptional .. I was just raving and carrying on about it! .. that one of my waiters disappeared and in the wink-of-an-eye reappeared with ..

THE MAN WHO MAKES THESE SALADS!

MY MAN!  

YOU ARE .. 'THE' SALAD-MAKING MAN!

As this was all 'playing out' .. I made about ten (10) phone calls to Patti!

Finally I put Patti and the Salad Chef on the phone together!

I don't think he speaks much English BUT Patti and this gentleman talked a minute or so and he seemed to be really enjoying it!

OK 'get-with-me-here'!  I asked the Chef ..

"Can I eat the Red Flower?"

He smiled and said .. "Tomato!"  

When I gingerly turned the precious little oh-so-very delicate red flower over .. sure enough .. there was his little 'tomato bottom'.  Using a razor-sharp-knife the skin of the tomato becomes a delicate red flower!  

OH YES !  Below you are now-about-to-meet my two other waiters .. I MEAN WE ARE ALL ROCKING HERE at Daily Bread here in 'Pondi'! ..

"What did you ask?" .. 

"Cap!  What is it you ABSOLUTELY LOVE ABOUT INDIA!?"

Krishnan Kalai is on the right.  Krishnan gave me his e-mail address and I asked him IF he did  the internet.  He said sure!  So I have sent him the above photo and gave him our web site address.

I 'rest-my-case' about LOVING INDIA!

Daily Bread's Thai Fruit and Vegetable Salad!

Daily Bread's salad has differed from day-to-day and sure enough .. today it WAS yet again different !

Below is a view looking down on Sunday's salad.  Sunday my salad had eight (8) items.   Individual grapes in the center with sliced apples, papaya, pineapple, oranges, tomatoes, cucumbers and green beans.

Below is a view looking down on Monday's salad.  Monday's  salad had nine (9) items.  Grapes on-their-vine in the center with sliced oranges, green beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, apples, papaya, pineapple and a new item .. fancy cut carrots!

Below we have Tuesday's (3rd) version of the salad.  True-to-form .. it was a 'tad' different from Sunday and Monday's salads !

There were no green beans Tuesday.  But in the center of Tuesday's salad was the new addition of a 'lime flower'!  that was surrounded by a circle of grapes!

And below we have the Wednesday (4th) version of my salad.  When the wait-staff set Wednesday's salad before me I squealed with delight !

Wednesday's salad was totally different in overall appearance from the previous three days!

For the FIRST TIME .. there are ten (10) items on the salad!

The lime flower .. grapes .. green beans .. then pineapple, papaya, oranges, cucumbers, carrots, apples and tomatoes.

And below is today's (6th) version of the phenomenal salad!

A 'new development'!  By now the wait-staff at Daily Bread are fascinated by my process.  I order my salad.  My salad arrives.  I carry my salad outside and I photograph my salad.  Giggling and chortling to myself all-the-while!

So today I 'lured' two of my Daily Bread waiters into-my-web!  

Goodness NEVER ask an Indian .. "Do you want your picture taken!" .. IF you are not going to take their photo!

Now look-past and between them and you see a display case in the background.

Oh my goodness Captain!  Look at the goodies!  

I nearly decided NOT to publish the below photo BUT my two waiters look so very good that I wanted them in another photo!

"Cap?  Who took the above photo?"

"Hi 'Zilla!" 

Yesterday .. Thursday .. 14 March .. I got to 'raving' about my salad to a young French Backpacker!  He said smiling (humoring me!) .. "I will try one tomorrow!" 

So this lunchtime in he walks.  I keep quiet not looking-up because I do NOT want to intimidate him into ordering MY salad.

Awhile later .. looking-over-at-me .. he calls out to me .. "See?!" and points down to HIS salad!

Which HE photographed!  See his camera in his hand? 

  
He has-his-backpack with him!  Tonight at 10PM he leaves by bus for Bangalore!  Then on-to Hempi!  These young chaps are Lions!

And one last photo .. he finished his salad!  Oh My Goodness Patti .. HE even ate the lime flower!

Vive la France my friend!  He plans to check this site out this afternoon and see me at dinner time this evening.  He has time-to-pass until his bus at 10PM.
