AUG 14, 14 .. UNITED STATES RAILROAD TRAINS ..

This post is for my friends in INDIA.  Our trains here in the United States are somewhat different than the trains in INDIA.  So I wanted to show you a few photos I snapped today as Patti and I met our friend Andre here in Royal Oak Michigan.

BUT .. you in the United States can 'look-in' if you choose .. Smiles !!

In the United States the major passenger-carrying railroad system is called .. AMTRAK.  I specify passenger-carrying railroad because freight (in India you say 'Goods') is carried on private railroad carriers.

So .. here-we-go with a few photographs.

First are photographs of the massive AMTRAK railroad engines !  I snapped photographs of two (2) different AMTRAK trains.

In the distance you can see passengers boarding the train.

Below are some close-up photographs of the passengers boarding the AMTRAK train.

In the below photograph .. the AMTRAK conductor seems to be wondering what I am doing?  One man has his hand over his head .. maybe he is 'shy' of having his photograph snapped!

Below are a few photographs of the AMTRAK passenger car coaches.

And .. here is our friend Andre .. arriving from Chicago Illinois .. happy to be home again !

And below is a private corporation freight train ..

Pulling his freight or in India .. his 'goods' ..

Well .. as we used to say at the end of our movies here in the United States ..

THATS ALL FOLKS !!

I hope you all enjoyed these few photos that I snapped ..

Much Joy .. Cap and Patti .. Patti was right beside me all-the-time !

Oh Hi Again Andre ..

Nice to see you Andre ..

JUL 28, 13 ( 1 / 3 ) .. AMTRAK.. ROYAL OAK TO CHICAGO..

Can you all see the train coming down the tracks in the far distance?  Look for the headlight! A tiny-white-dot!

WOW HERE IT IS !

AMTRAK is a United States federally supported railroad system.  It is an excellent experience to ride on AMTRAK!

On Friday, July 26th, Patti and I boarded the AMTRAK Railroad Train in Royal Oak Michigan and headed for Chicago Illinois as our three week trip came to a close.  We enjoyed a very nice six hour trip on the train.

Here are some photos that we took during our trip to Chicago.

Can you see Patti in the distance walking away from me up the aisle.

And speaking of Patti .. here she is enjoying the trip.

As you can see .. the coaches are very clean and pleasant and the trains are fully air-conditioned.

The below photo shows the 'business class' seating.  For an additional cost you get a little more room.

The next three photos show the dining car and mini-restaurant facility.  Patti and I enjoyed two absolutely EXCELLENT salads during our trip.

In the below photo you can see from the line of people waiting 'their turn' to purchase food and drinks that the dining car is very popular!

Below are three photographs of Chicago's Union Station.

Continue to 'scroll down' to the next post below to see Part 2 of 3 and some photographs of scenery along the trip.

JUL 28, 13 ( 2 / 3 ).. AMTRAK.. ROYAL OAK TO CHICAGO..

In the above post I showed a number of photographs of the interior of the AMTRAK train.  Below are some photographs showing some scenery and places of interest we saw during our trip.

I found this old railway station in Niles Michigan fascinating.

The city of Chicago has a major league baseball team named the Chicago White Sox.  Their stadium is on the south side of the city and is right beside the AMTRAK train tracks.  Below are several photographs of their Stadium as viewed from the train as we passed-it-by.

Some of you reading this post in India may be interested in some photographs I took from the train showing some of our local roads and highways here in the United States.

Below is a photograph of Woodward Avenue in downtown Detroit Michigan.  I don't see roads like this in India.

Below are photographs of two of our freeways.

Below are several photographs just-looking-out-of the train window.

Please continue to scroll down to see the final post, Part 3 of 3, of this trip to see a few photographs of the downtown section of Chicago, Illinois.
