Here is a little background for the rest of you ..

I put this post up originally last February 7th, 2012 .. and at that time .. Gord 48025 asked me the below question ..

"Cap what is the metal scaffolding on top of the guest house?"

Gord was referring to the below photo showing part of the roof of the K. V. M. Guest House where I spent the day and evening of February 7th 2012 as I was waiting to catch a bus to Kodaikanal.

l did not know!  I could NOT answer Gord!  And a year ago when I asked the K. V. M. Guest House staff about all of the steel up-on-your-roof .. they did not have a clue as to what I was talking about !   

BUT for one year Gord's question has been burning in-my-mind !  

So today .. Wednesday March 13, 2013 .. FOR MY MAN GORD 48025 .. I revisited the K. V. M. Guest House ..

Below is the photo taken February 7, 2012, of the K. V. M. Guest House.  Do you all see the steel up-on-the-roof? 

OK GORD 48025 .. in looking at the below photo taken today .. March 13, 2013 .. now you and I think that we know the answer to your question of a year ago !

Gord Ol' Buddy !  It appears to me that the steel on-the-roof that you asked me about a year ago was the beginning of the scaffolding to install and to really support a much larger Bill Board!  That's 'my call' Gord!

Now I will go back-a-year to February 2012.

A year ago as I was preparing to leave Pondicherry and go to Kodaikanal .. my friends at PARVEEN TRAVEL told me of a 'real authentic' Indian Guest House very close to their office.  I stayed the day and into the evening at the K. V. M. Guest House.  The reason I chose to do this was because my bus for Kodaikanal left at 11PM and I wanted to be there not all the way across 'Pondi'.  And I did not want to walk-the-streets all day waiting for 11PM.

Below is the main entrance to K. V. M. Guest House.

Up up and up some thirty seven (37) very steep steps and you look into my room of a year ago .. small but the basics are here .. to the left of the photo is the door to the attached toilet .. don't give me this down-the-hall common toilet .. no sir .. an attached toilet is plush let-me-tell you !

And .. I COULD NOT BELIEVE THIS .. a Western Sitter .. in an 'authentic Indian Guest House' .. go figure..

Now below is the REAL DEAL .. I had an 'outside' exposure .. I could look outdoors .. no light well here no siree ..

ALL OF THIS .. for ONLY Four Hundred (400) Rupees a night .. translated this is about Eight Dollars a night  ..

I decided to keep this post for future reference because it shows the kind of basic rooms most back packers stay in.

Back on 27 February 2013 I did a Post about a super market here in 'Pondi' .. Nilgiris.  Gullible really gave me the old what-for !

As in .. Can't you even take us inside the store?  What is this?  One photo of the outside?  Come on give-us-a-break!

The Rest Of The Story is this !

India is really quirky about photographs!  Do NOT even think about photographing some things here .. they are up-tight about photographing government buildings and trains and many things!  In fact some restaurants have a NO PHOTOGRAPHS policy if you can believe it !

And it just so happens that Nilgiris has a NO PHOTOGRAPHS policy !

And they have Uniformed Security Guards .. you check your stuff at-the-door-going-in!  So I had to get my camera inside the store !

Well 'I Owe Gullible' so I set out to get inside photographs of Nilgiris.  Twice .. on different days at different times-of-the-day .. one time downstairs and one time upstairs .. I think luckily by a different employee each time .. I got 'caught' and ADMONISHED .. NO PHOTOGRAPHS !  Neither employee asked to see my camera and to verify that I deleted any photographs thereon !  

In the below Post .. WE  REVISIT  NILGIRIS .. I have gotten what I could get in the way of decent photo coverage of Nilgiris !

AFTER ALL I HAVE TO SHOP THERE and I can not risk being banned from the store!

JAN 15, 13 .. THE JIGSAW PUZZLE .. PART II

THANKFULLY! there seem to be ‘a few of you’ following along here who actually prefer reading written posts as opposed to viewing strictly photos.  I base this on the fact that a few of you voiced this preference to me when I was posting photos here and posting written thoughts over at Baba Kaps Doxology (babakaps.net) my other web site.  As in .. “Cap, actually I am reading your writings at Baba Kaps Doxology and not looking at all the photos you are posting at Bobba Caps Dolology.”

At the Royal Oak library this afternoon I MUST try to find a copy of Julia Cameron’s book .. ‘The Right To Write’ .. so I can accurately quote her when she states .. “It is the ACT OF WRITING that calls forth ideas and not sitting around idly wondering what you are going to write.”

What you have just read above IS NOT WHAT I INTENDED TO WRITE when I sat down here at 8AM Eastern Standard Time in the City of Royal Oak in the State of Michigan in the United States of America. 

It seems to be a ‘Truth Of My Writing Universe’ that the instant I put pen-to-paper or fingers-to-keyboard I seem to no longer be in-charge of what results therefrom!  And I have personally witnessed this-exact-same-phenomenon in countless others who ‘write inventory’.   They think they are going to write about one specific line of resentments and fears and a completely different line of resentments and fears comes forth from their pen!

I RESENT THIS DRATTED ‘CTRL’ KEY ON THE LOWER LEFT OF MY KEYBOARD!  I REACH TO HIT ‘SHIFT’ AND I HIT ‘CNTRL’ AND I LOSE EVERYTHING!    I FEAR THAT I JUST LOST THE TOTAL WRITING I JUST BEGAN!

OK LET ME TALK ABOUT PHOTOS!

Back last November or early December I found out Google has put a limit on the amount of storage I can 'have-for-free’ here on Blogspsot.  Or at least Google has put a limit on my photo-storage-capacity.  OK I ‘agreed’ to pay them something like three dollars-a-month (NO GOING BACK they advised me!) for my existing photo capacity.   I then tried to post a photo and got the same message that I have exceeded my photo-storage-capacity despite the fact that a few minutes earlier I had agreed to pay $3 a month! 

So I sit   S T U C K !

Rather than jump to six dollars-a-month (or even more) forever .. and risk being told that still is not enough money and I can’t go back ..  I have stopped posting photos here.

This morning I just tried the following.  I went back to FWIW 179 dated February 26, 2012, and tried to ‘revert to draft’ that writing and then ‘publish it’ hoping that the entire writing .. FWIW 179 of February 26, 2012 .. would appear-here-and-now on January 15^th 2013.  Photos and all.

NO LUCK.  It just re-posted back-in-place new changes and all. So I am TOTALLY UNABLE  to move-around-photos  already posted.  Google just won’t let me re-use existing photos.

AND-THE-WORLD-TURNS ..

Now I am thinking that I will turn Baba Kaps Doxology into a photo web site and keep Bobba Caps Doxology a text web site.

OR!  Set up another Google Blogspot web site calling it Bobba Caps Photos or some such.

NOW TO WRITE WHAT I SET ABOUT TO WRITE WHEN I BEGAN !

THE  JIGSAW  PUZZLE .. PART II

Two posts ago .. Friday the 4^th of January 2013 .. I began writing about the JIGSAW PUZZLE that a major trip out-of-the-country turns out to be for me .. I can’t speak for you!

THE JIGSAW PUZZLE now stands at about 80% complete. 

I have now completed the first-round-of-mail to those friends abroad who I will see or who follow me closely here.  Post Cards only because envelope mail will often be stolen and opened in the vain attempt to find money some people are stupid enough to actually send abroad!   All mailed together in one batch of mail so IF someone tells me they received their card I will assume the others also received theirs.

 Raj in Herbertpur in Dehradun 248 142 has confirmed by e-mail he received his card.  THANK YOU RAJ !

I am busy wrapping-up a lot of odds-and-ends here that I want finished before I leave .. lists of what I need abroad .. visiting friends I want to be sure to see before I leave .. I have already made two trips to Toledo, Ohio, to see Mel and Lori and will make a third trip next Monday.  And more much more I will not go into here.

Ask me .. “Cap can you believe you are about to make your tenth (10^th) trip to India?” .. “No I can not!”

DEC 29, 12 .. WELL I THINK THAT MAYBE ..

Committee-inside-my-head will you ever JUST SHUT UP!  You are screeching at me inside-my-head .. “Who on this green earth even cares!” 

Sigh!  I have to assume that IF you are reading and if you are following along here some (one only?) of you may and do care ..

Well .. I THINK THAT MAYBE .. but I am not close to being 100% positive .. that I AM GOING TO RETURN TO INDIA !

In the past I have had strong and extremely clear signals as to this decision .. my last trip was started by a STRONG FEELING OF .. DO IT NOW !

Father Abello in Calcutta .. Jesuit Priest that he is .. ALWAYS stresses the word and the concept of ‘discernment’ .

So I sit trying to ‘discern’ whether the following story amounts to a ‘call to return to India’ ..

‘Zilla I think maybe .. after your incident earlier this year tripping over your suitcase leaving your hotel room .. you may relate ..

 OK .. does this story amount to a ‘calling’ ?  You decide.

A special friend of a friend .. and I do not even know her name or her age but I am pretty sure she was not a ‘spring chicken’ .. returned home from someplace just within the past week-or-two .. parked her auto in her garage .. and tripped and fell ..

She was hurt so badly from this fall in her garage  that due to pain and physical damage to her shoulder she could not get up and get into her home .. instead she gathered some stuff together to keep her warm and leaned up against her garage wall .. I can only imagine the mental situation she must have been in!

Luckily within several hours .. someone came looking for her and found her .. got her to a local emergency room where she under went surgery.

And?

This poor lady .. who had just been coming home from somewhere .. you know .. just doing-her-life .. passed away.  She died! As in dead! .. shortly thereafter!

She acquired a ‘hospital based staph infection’ which she did-not-have prior to falling and going to the 'ER' and that-was-that!  Her life-show ended!

Gee ‘Zilla you-lucked-out!  You at least are still alive-and-kicking!

So how-on-earth is this story ‘a call to return to India’?

It is NOT ‘Per Se’ a call to DO anything ..

EXCEPT to ponder how thin the thread of life is that I am hanging onto at age 76 years  .. by-the-way all living beings are hanging onto or suspended by their own individual thin-threads-of-life!

As if my recent adventure with Benign Positional Vertigo last 12/12/12 was not enough of a 'wake-up-call'!

Patti was out day-before-yesterday and now is recovering from an automobile accident that she was involved in!  She was not hurt as severely as the lady in the above story was .. but she is stiff-sore-and-aching and did not want nor need the grief of having her car ‘totaled’!

Luckily for Patti her-new-life-acquaintance has auto insurance (this alone is a blessing!) with the same automobile insurance company and that driver also was not injured to the point of requiring emergency room care.

Considering all of the above .. I have formally reserved a room at the Kowloon YMCA in Hong Kong, China, arriving January 29^th departing February 2^nd.

Now I will explore ‘getting-there’ .. making the requisite airline reservations etc but the proverbial ball-is-rolling!

WILL IT ACTUALLY HAPPEN?  Let’s all of us stay-tuned!  With my personal history odds-are-it-will-happen .. UNLESS (and you and I can fill-in-the-blank line about what could happen to stop me!  .. like get up from here and in going to the kitchen trip-and-fall and? ..)

Last night the Detroit Pistons professional basketball team beat the defending Champion Miami Heat 109 – 99 out at the Palace of Auburn Hills, Michigan, and I was there in attendance with a friend of many years rooting like crazy!  I can and I am just-doing-it!  Just doing-life!

Patti will  get another auto that is easier for her to get into and get out of!

Trucker Tom 48067 and I are going to have breakfast uptown at Niki’s Restaurant in about-an-hour!

The final weekend of the NFL season is tomorrow with some great games to watch .. and the PLAYOFFS begin week after this!

IF something negative does happen to me .. I pray that I will take-it-with-a-smile KNOWING HOW RICHLY I HAVE BEEN BLESSED IN THIS LIFETIME!
