DEC 26, 22 .. A VISIT TO FOUNTAIN HILLS IN THE PHOENIX, ARIZONA, METRO AREA

 Patti and I really enjoy visiting Fountain Hills, Arizona. 

Fountain Hills is located in the Northeastern part of the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. If you click onto the below link you can see where it is located.

Built in 1970 by Robert McCulloch, the fountain is one of the largest fountains in the world! The fountain sprays water for 15 minutes every hour at the top of the hour. The fountain uses 7,000 gallons per minute and at its full height it can reach 560 feet in the air.

The plume rises from a concrete water lily sculpture in the center of a man-made lake.

The Mayo Clinic here in the Phoenix, Arizona, greater metro area, has several individual Campuses (or if you prefer Campi). 

The Shea Campus is relatively close to Fountain Hills. So often, after an appointment at the Shea Campus, Patti and I will drive over to Fountain Hills to see the fountain.

And then we have The Fountain on St. Patrick's Day when The Fountain turns green !

And there you have it. A visit to The Fountain in Fountain Hills, Arizona.

MAR 28, 21 .. SAINT PATRICK'S DAY AT FOUNTAIN HILLS, ARIZONA

 Fountain Hills, Arizona, is located on the extreme North Eastern edge of the greater Phoenix Metropolitan Area. Let's see how a Google Map link will look. Fountain Park is to the upper right in the below map.

To say that Fountain Hills, Arizona, is an exclusive town would be quite an understatement. I imagine the average income of its residents is quite significant. 

I don't know which came first, Fountain Hills or THE Fountain. Probably they arrived at the same time, back in December of 1970, because it appears to be a well designed and very modern community.

And, out there in the small lake, is THE Fountain during its idle period awaiting the top-of-the-hour to erupt. It normally goes off at the-top-of-the-hour and erupts for fifteen minutes.

And ERUPT it certainly does. Please notice that the water is usually white in color as you see below.

Below are a few facts about THE Fountain.

Please don't strain your eyes trying to read the fine print in the below photo. Immediately following it you will find a close-up photo of the details of THE Fountain.

Every Saint Patrick's Day, once at 12 o'clock noon, and once at 5pm in the late afternoon, THE Fountain erupts for forty five minutes and spouts green water. It is quite a sight and draws a nice crowd.

In the below photo, it is a little difficult to see, but the fountain is just beginning to turn green.

And, in the final photo below, THE Fountain appears to be in the process of ending its once-a-year green color.

It was one grand day.
