JUN 5, 21 .. PATTI'S FLOWERS .. THE SUMMER OF 2021

 Here we are!

June of 2021.

It IS Summertime.

It is time for Patti to get her summer flowers purchased and planted.

Finding and purchasing her initial group of flowers.

After looking at several stores, Patti settled on our neighborhood Home Depot for her first foray into purchasing her Summer 2021 flowers.

While Patti lovingly shopped for her flowers, I made a visti to our local Costco Store then checked our Post Office Box and posted some outgoing mail.

Well just look at Patti's flowers.

Home to our Condo and into action.

You have to look carefully at the first four of the below photos. The flowers have not been planted. They have been set, still in their little plastic boxes, onto of the soil in the planter boxes.

Now the actual planting begins.

There you have it! Patti is now well on her way to again having a beautiful and most pleasant array of flowers on our back porch.

This year Patti will not be planting flowers out on the street side of our Condo.

Hugs from a busy Patti and Smiles from her Number One Rooter.

JUN 3, 21 .. YUMA, ARIZONA .. OUR FINAL CHAPTER FOR NOW

"The time has come," the Walrus said,

   "To talk of many things:

Of shoes—and ships—and sealing-wax—

   Of cabbages—and kings—

And why the sea is boiling hot—

   And whether pigs have wings."

The Walrus and the Carpenter by Lewis Carroll - 1832-1898

"The time has come," your Captain says, to wrap up this series of posts covering our several visits to Yuma, Arizona.

The below link from Wikipedia will give you some general information about Yuma.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuma,_Arizona

We previously published a post about the Yuma Territorial Prison.

If you were to stand where the above photo was taken, and if you were to turn to your right about 150°, and look down the hill, you would see in the near distance Riverside Park.

RIVERSIDE PARK, YUMA, ARIZONA

Riverside Park is a small, yet very pleasant park, that becons (to summon or signal typically with a wave) you to drive down a short small hill and to stop for a visit after you've finished visiting the Territorial Prison. We often visit Riverside Park without stopping at the prison.

Now we are driving down from the prison.

The below photo, looking up at the Yuma Territiorial Prison, was snapped from Riverside Park.

On the left side of the above photo, and in the three below photos, you see the Riverside Cottage (no I have NOT mispelled College) Outdoor Education Center that we have yet to explore.

KNIGHTS INN, YUMA, ARIZONA

The Knights Inn is one of two motels that we have stayed at in Yuma.

Time to go into our room.

The lobby area was pleasant.

Patti loves the NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt.

Each evening, just before the end of his show, Lester signs off  with a happy segment showing an example of something happy and uplifting and inspirational in today's less than uplifting overall news environment.

In this vein, following Lester's lead, I want to close this series of Yuma, Arizona, posts with something that really tickled and brought joy to Patti and me.

SUPER 8, YUMA, ARIZONA

Yes!

Sports Fans I KNOW, it is a bit of a cop-out to refer you to the below link showing the Yuma Super 8. I hit a bit of a photo-slump and did NOT do a photo shoot of our stay here at the Super 8 during our recent April 2021 visit.

So why bother to even mention it?

Simple. We have all been experiencing the Covid-19 pandemic this past (has it been that long) year and a half. I date the pandemic to my return from Asia in mid December 2019 when I was so sick that I stopped in Seattle, Washington, en route from Seoul, South Korea, to Anchorage, Alaska, to go to the Virginia Mason Hospital Emergency Room only to be told nothing was wrong with me. I will die believing that I contacted the Covid-19 virus in South Korea en route from Irkutsk, Russian Siberia, on my way home to the United States.

As a result, we have not been traveling until this past March 8th to May 3rd. So, except for this Yuma Super 8, without exception, the motels we stayed at all had stopped their courtesy breakfast service.

Wow! The Yuma Super 8 mangement solved the Covid-19 breakfast issue with their breakfast bag .

Patti and I loved their ingenuity and the love that came with it.

Taa-Daa ..

THE YUMA, SUPER 8, BREAKFAST BAG

During our checkin process, I saw the breakfast area had a juice bar machine and made a mental note of it. So our first morning I got up to see if the juice machine was operational. It was! So I got two glasses of fruit juice and, as I was heading back to our room, the front desk manager called out to me..

"Sir. Don't forget your breakfast bag!"

Not having a clue what she was talking about, I went over to her. She pointed out the breakfast bags very proudly sitting in the lobby with the fruit juice dispenser.

I'm getting a little teary and emotional just recalling the love and the caring of the management for its guests that the Super 8 Yuma breakfast bags brought to Patti and me.

"Sir don't forget your breakfast bag!"

Taa Daa ..

As you can see in the two below photos, the breakfast bags were very popular. The fruit varied from Oranges and Apples to Bananas as did the yogurt flavors.

Signing off with Joy and Happiness as a result of our Yuma, Arizona, adventures.
