JUL 4, 26.. THE 250th U.S. 4th OF JULY..

Today, Saturday the 4th of July, 2026, marks the 250th birthday and a historic, quarter-millennium, of American independence!!

Thank you NATIONAL TODAY for sharing your website with all who choose to use it.

The Fourth of July unites Americans every July the 4th to commemorate our nation's birth and Independence Day.

It is a time for backyard barbecues, community parades, and spectacular fireworks displays. Gather your loved ones, fly the flag, and immerse yourself in the spirit of freedom and unity.

Thomas Jefferson was the principal author of the Declaration of Independence, that played a pivotal role in shaping the ideals of American freedom. His eloquent words articulated the colonists' grievances and their desire for self-governance, laying the philosophical groundwork for the United States. He later served as the third U.S. President. His vision for an independent nation is central to the Fourth of July's significance.

There is a lot more information on the NATIONAL TODAY website. If you wish to read more, you may do so by clicking onto the below link to their website.

Wow! We as a nation are now Two Hundred and Fifty (250) years of age.

Patti and I wish each and every one reading along with us here a very happy, safe and pleasant 4th of July 2026.

JUL 4, 25.. THE FOURTH OF JULY.. IT FEELS LIKE SUMMER IS HERE..

THE FOURTH OF JULY.. 2025..

Patti and I wish all of you a happy, joyous, and safe Fourth of July three day weekend.

Americans come together on July 4 to celebrate the nation’s birthday and Independence Day. On this day, most Americans enjoy grills in their backyards, at beaches, or in parks. Some partake in parades or marches and enjoy the fireworks that are often launched at dusk. We kick off the festivities with details, trivia, and anything else you need to know about Independence Day. Happy Fourth!

In the 1700s, America wasn’t really a nation of ‘United States.’ Instead, there were 13 Colonies with distinct personalities. From 1763 to 1773, Britain’s King George III increasingly placed pressure on the Colonies as he and the British Parliament enacted a succession of draconian taxes and laws on them. Excessive taxes on British luxury goods like tea and sugar were designed to benefit the British crown without any regard for the hardships of the colonists. By 1764, the phrase “Taxation without representation is tyranny” spread throughout the colonies as the rallying cry of outrage.

There is a lot more to the story of our independence. If you would like to read more of the NATIONAL TODAY article, please click onto the below link.

Also, on our dotnet Post today, we published a fun story about Oatman, Arizona, and a 4th of July Tradition they celebrate today.

Below is a link to that Post.

Again we wish each and everyone a happy, joyous, and safe 4th of July Holiday.

JUL 5, 24 .. FROM GUEST CONTRIBUTOR GINNY .. FIREWORKS IN LAUGHLIN, NEVADA ..

Our friend Ginny, down in Laughlin, Nevada, sent us the below 4th of July fireworks photos and we wanted to share them with you.

But first a fun story.

In the first photo below, please notice the "Green Building" in the distance.

The Green Building is the Tropicana Laughlin, one of the many pleasant hotels in Laughlin.

Last November of 2023, it was night, as Patti and I were driving South along Bruce Woodbury Drive back to our Edgewater Hotel from Tom and Ginny's apartment, Patti saw the Tropicana Laughlin and squealed, "Cap! They painted the Tropicana Green! It used to be white!"

I don't recall if I said anything or not that instant. But the next day when we again were heading South, Patti said, "They repainted it white!"

Somewhere "in the mix" I said to Patti, "At night they shine Green Floodlights on the Tropicana!"

Patti giggled. I giggled. I'll bet Ginny and Tom may be giggling as they read this Post! I don't think they have heard Patti's Green Tropicana Hotel story.

Some more 4th of July fireworks photos from Ginny.

Thanks so much Ginny for sharing your photos with us.

JUL 4, 22 .. OUR FOURTH OF JULY 2022 WEEKEND

Patti and I had a very nice, three day, Fourth of July weekend.

Very low key. Very relaxed.

Saturday, to begin our holiday weekend, we enjoyed a walk to our local park, Sitka Street Park. We walk to Sitka Street Park almost every single summer day. It is a short, 10 minute walk from our condominimum.

Out in the distance a group is having a picnic.

A closer look at the above group.

Many children use and enjoy Sitka Street Park. I snapped the below photo when there were no children present to show the play structure clearly.

Here are the children.

In THE Winter.

Below is 'our' bench. Our favorite place to sit and relax. It faces the above children's play structure.

The climbing rock. No children.

Here come the children.

Sunday, after our morning meeting, the two of us took a drive South down the Seward Highway.

A stop at Beluga Point.

After visiting Beluga Point, we continued South down the Seward Highway to Bird Point, another of our favorite places to visit.

If you want a peek at some Alaskan Beauty, here it is.

On our way back North up the Seward Highway we stopped to admire Falls Creek.

Nice (as in NICE) huh ?

Monday (today) a short walk to Hillstrand Pond.

Just in case you don't think the above two photos do Hillstrand Pond justice (and you are correct) please click onto the below link to REALLY see more of this pleasant place we visit.

JUL 4, 19 .. HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY TO ALL OF YOU ..

Patti and I are enjoying our 4th of July here in Irkutsk as we prepare to fly to Hong Kong tomorrow, Friday the 5th.

We thought that you'd like to see what some of the children here in Irkutsk, Russian Siberia, are doing on THEIR 4th of July.

The fountains here in Irkutsk are not just for children.

Oh no.

Below are some fountains where the adults go to see their sporting events.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY EVERYONE ..
