FEB 26, 25.. WINTER IN MONTANA and in ARIZONA..

Patti and I live up in Anchorage, Alaska. During the winter we become "Sun Birds" and we head South to Arizona "To Winter".

Our friend Dan also lives up in Anchorage, Alaska. However Dan heads "South" to the cold climes of Montana "To winter."

Dan graced us with some photos of winter in Montana.

OCT 25, 24.. THE ALASKA HIGHWAY aka THE ALCAN.. MONTANA DAN

Here we go on a Post (Just Do It says Nike).

Patti and I have driven The Alcan from start to finish, going North to Alaska and South to British Columbia five or ten or even more times. All years before we had websites. So we have none of our photos to show because they are 35mm film photos and the cost of converting them to digital photos is overwhelmingly costly.

Our guest contributor, Dan 99507 .. 99507 is his Anchorage, Alaska postal zip code .. is driving the Alcan as we write this Post. I am showing the photos Dan has sent to us.

Dan was born and raised in Montana. We three became good friends in 1994 and, along with many others, call him "Montana Dan".

Dan has decided that he wants to "winter" in Montana! 

We will neither comment upon, nor question, his rationale. 

He has purchased a sizeable trailer, which he as "outfitted" to live in, as well as to transport items, which he is towing behind his pickup truck.

I wish that I had taken some of my own photos before Dan left but Patti and I did not want to get in his way.

Dan is now en route. The two below photos show Dan's pickup truck and the trailer so you can more clearly "visualize" his setup.

The below text messages from Dan says a lot about what he is encountering!

I will sleep in the bunk above the ATV. It's nice and warm in here and I am hooked up to power so I have electricity. My furnace is running nice.

Lights out for me. I spent four hours today driving 90 miles in a white out. I'm wore out and my hands are cramping from squeezing the heck out of my steering wheel.

OCT 26, 23 (3/3) .. CAN A MOOSE BE A "GUEST CONTRIBUTOR" TO A POST?

Rhetorical Question : Is it me or is it "The Universe" that is coming up with all of these Moose encounters? 

Two of them alive, up close and in person (OCT 18 and OCT 23) here in Anchorage. 

Now we have more Moose photos just sent to us from our Guest Contributor, Montana Dan! Dan is visiting family in Great Falls. 

I like the above title so I will "Roll with it" because it fits doesn't it? Well I think it fits!

AUG 15, 23 .. MONTANA RAINBOW AND ALASKAN EAGLE

I am so blessed to have so very many friends who send me special photographs. A friend in Anchorage, "Montana Dan", sent me the below photo of a rainbow that he recently snapped in the Great Falls, Montana, area.

Another friend, Tim McBride, who recently visited Patti and myself here in Anchorage, is now driving home to the Detroit, Michigan, Metropolitan area. En route he snapped a "classic photo" of an Eagle.

AUG 2, 23 .. GREAT FALLS, MONTANA .. THANK YOU DAN

Dan, one of our best friends in Anchorage, was born and raised in Great Falls, Montana. As a result, although he lives in Alaska, we call him "Montana Dan". Dan just sent us a few photos that he snapped during his current visit in Great Falls, Montana. 

Amazing! A friend in Montana, snaps a few photos with his smart phone and presto, we have copies!

GREAT FALLS, MONTANA

When Dan texted us these photos, he did not tell us where, in late July, he found three small pieces of ice!

So Patti and I just telephoned Dan and we asked him.

"Dan? Where did you find the little ice balls in July?"

"They are pieces of hail. I was in the basement taking a nap and I heard thunder outside. So I got up, got into my car and drove toward some very dark skies. All of a sudden the skies opened up and a hail storm ensued."

"Then, just like that, the sun came out and I snapped the below rainbow!"
