JUN 19, 19 .. IRKUTSK .. THE ЦЕНТРАΛЬНЫЙ РЫНОК SHOPPING MALL

We will get to an explanation of the name in the above title a little further down in this post.

In our last post, we posted photos of a very up-scale shopping mall here in Irkutsk, Russian Siberia..

In this post we will show another shopping mall.

The shopping mall in this post is one nitty-gritty, get-the-shopping-done, as-inexpensively-as-you-can, experience.

Here we go loop-de-loop ..

The first series of photos below shows the shopping center's North end.

Outside of the main building, you can see from the blue tents, there is also a very large open-air-shopping area. 

The next three photos below look at the South end of the shopping center.

Now for a little fun with the Russian language.

In the below photo, you can see the name of the shopping center.

ЦЕНТРАΛЬНЫЙ  РЫНОК

The first word ( ЦЕНТРАΛЬНЫЙ ) sounds-out as : TSENTRALNYY

The second word ( РЫНОК ) sounds out as : RYNOK

So, sounding out the Russian words, you find that you are at the:

TSENTRALNYY RYNOK shopping center.

Big help this is! Yes indeed! We are learning the Russian Cyrillic Alphabet but we don't have the vocabulary to back up the sounded-out words.

Taa-Daa, here is the meaning of  ЦЕНТРАΛЬНЫЙ  РЫНОК.

CENTRAL MARKET

Just for fun, I did a Trip Advisor post of the TSENTRALNYY RYNOK shopping center.

Now inside of  ЦЕНТРАΛЬНЫЙ  РЫНОК we all walk.

And then..

As I was strolling around the ЦЕНТРАΛЬНЫЙ  РЫНОК..

I spied some stairs..

And?

Up the stairs (about six flights) I walked..

To get some 'overhead' photos of ЦЕНТРАΛЬНЫЙ  РЫНОК.

The below photo gives you an idea of what it looked like up there in the rafters.

In the below photo..

Кафе means Cafe in Russian. 

Осмровок means Osmrovok in Russian.

After this little workout, I needed to take-a-break at the Cafe Osmrovok.

IF you look closely at the upper left of the below photo, you can see the Cafe Osmorovok.

Well that-is-that for our little visit to  ЦЕНТРАΛЬНЫЙ  РЫНОК.

JUN 17, 19 .. IRKUTSK .. MODNY KVARTAL SHOPPING MALL

MODNY KVARTAL ( МОДНЫЙ КВАРТАΛ ) is a shopping mall that is located in the 130 Kvartal District of Irkutsk.

МОДНЫЙ КВАРТАΛ in Russian means Fashionable Quarter.

I first visited it back in early November of 2018 and was absolutely astounded when I entered it. 

Russian Siberia? 

This is what they have for a Shopping Mall in Russian Siberia?

Wowie!

And now? 

Just stand back! 

The next photos will show you what a magnificent and yes, what a stunningly beautiful Shopping Mall 130 Kvartal here in Irkutsk, Russian Siberia looks like. 

The below photos show you more of the red seating area of the restaurant that you see at the very bottom of the above photo.

Back we now go to some additional photos of the fountain area of the 130 Kvartal Shopping Mall in Irkutsk, Russian Siberia.

Yes! Oh Yes! Oh Yes Indeed! They really do have stores in this magnificent Shopping Mall.

Some 'names-you-will-recognize'.

The shop in the above and the below photos reminded me of the Hallmark Stores in the U.S. 

For all of our friends who love their kitty-cats. 'Zilla and Kleiner Bär to name two.

"What is it you are asking me 'Zilla?"

"Do they have any food in this Shopping Mall 'Zilla?"

"Yes."

"Oh Yes Indeed 'Zilla."

"Why they even have a ..... "

"Hey Big Daddy!" 

"Will you dial me up a Double Whopper with a 48-ounce soda?"

Well Hello Colonel Sanders!"

"How about a KFC Twister!"

More familiar names, here in Russian Siberia.

Yes they even have a Russian Fast Food Restaurant.

You have got to realize that.. 

Here in Russian Siberia, in the Fall and Winter and Spring, it can get c-c-c-c-cold.

So they must have indoor seating in the Food Court.

However ..

How Evah ..

They have some pretty nice days in the Summer.

For 'Zilla they do have a nice, upscale restaurant.

Get your popcorn and a soda..

To enjoy in the theater as you watch a movie.

We do a fair amount of our grocery shopping at the enormous Slata SUPER Market in the lower (fountain) level of the Shopping Center.

Just once, the escalators suddenly stopped working. So we just hopped on the lift (elevator).

Many of us, beginning with Patti and I, have had huge misconceptions about present day Russian Siberia. 

In fact Patti's brother Bill, after he learned Patti was in Russian Siberia, asked: 

"Is Siberia a Prison?"

"NO Bill. Siberia is not a Prison."
