JUL 22, 26 (1 / 2).. HAMMOCK DAY.. MATHEMATICAL Pi DAY..

Before we begin, I would be willing for you to ask me.. 

"Captain? What on earth have you to say about Hammocks? You stress that either you or Patti have to have actual experience before you use a NATIONAL TODAY Holiday!?"

"IF, but only IF, you have ever spent ten (10) long days, crossing the Pacific Ocean, as an enlisted member of the United States Marine Corps, in a Navy Troop Ship The Floyd Clymer! Then we can talk about the hell of Hammocks!"

You are in tiers of 6 or 7 Hammocks above and below you. You can only get "out and on deck in the open air" for one hour a day. IF someone above you gets sea sick and vomits it comes down on those below him!

Talk about Hell! I don't know how anyone of us maintained our sanity!

Then finally you debark ship climbing down the side of the troop ship landing nets into a "Peter Boat LCVP" and again, we all got seasick heading for the landing beach!
