APR 27, 20 .. VICTORVILLE, CALIFORNIA MEMORIES .. A DRIVE WITH 'ZILLA

The pleasant day-trip you will be seeing below took place on Thursday, March 5th, 2020, when 'Zilla (driving) and I took off from Victorville / Apple Valley, driving southeast on California Highway 18 heading for Big Bear Lake located in the neighboring mountains of the San Bernardino National Forest.

By clicking onto the below link, you can see our trip.

Our trip began on the floor of the California high desert, the name of the area surrounding Victorville and environs.

Off in the distance you can see the mountain range where we are heading.

Up into the mountain range we drive.

Up we continue to drive.

Big Bear City. Elevation 6,754.

Too funny. They take their politics seriously.

Quite a shopping center for 6,000 people.

The Golden Arches. Loving them. Time for a lunch break.

Out and off we go. Happy and satisfied.

Big Bear Lake. Nice. REALLY NICE!

What a great day we had 'Zilla. Thanks for driving. Thanks for the memories.

Well there you have it. Our most pleasant day-trip. Another memory with a long time friend and close ally.

APR 20, 20 .. VICTORVILLE, CALIFORNIA MEMORIES .. AN ICE HOCKEY GAME WITH 'ZILLA

Last February, when Patti and I were in California (Oh My! How the time flies past all of us!) we visited our good friends in the Victorville area, 'Zilla and his wife.

'Zilla and I 'date back' over forty years to 1975. At our respective ages (early/mid 80's) our visits have the 'tone' of 'will this be our last visit?'

Saturday, February 29th, 2020 'Leap Year'

While neither of us knows this for sure, the ice hockey game that we saw together in Ontario, California, an easy one hour drive from Victorville down Interstate-15, could very well be our last game together.

So I wanted to post a few photos that 'Zilla has not seen of our wonderful 'outing' to see the game we attended. For a number of years he has purchased season tickets for his beloved Ontario Reign Ice Hockey Team.

Go REIGN!

A few photos of the Stadium. Notice the pleasant February weather here in wonderful, 'sunny California'!

The game began at 6pm, well before the sun set.

One of the very nice 'perks' that comes with 'Zilla's season tickets, is access to a really pleasant club within the Stadium.

Do you see what I mean about a very pleasant club?

An outdoor seating area adjoining the club.

Non season ticket holders who attend games have many great food choices as well.

The ice is ready and the game is about to begin.

Please stand for our National Anthem.

GAME TIME!

The Zamboni ice resurfacing machine 'in action' between periods.

A few additional action photos of the game.

The game was what you'd call a 'nail biter'. The hometown heroes, The Ontario Reign, were more-or-less 'outplayed' for most of the game. With just two minutes left in the game, the score was 1-0. Suddenly the Reign tied the game up 1-1.

That meant an Overtime period to decide the game.

After the completion of an 'overtime' period, the score remained tied at 1-1.

A SUDDEN DEATH SHOOT OUT ensued.

Oh My Goodness!

All is well that ends well.

The hometown heroes, The Ontario Reign WON the game 2-1!

A last look as we walked out to our automobile.

No matter what the venue, there will be a little 'traffic' getting out to the main roads leading home.

Well there-you-have-it 'Zilla. Some very nice 'memory joggers' of a great night-out while our ladies stayed home and visited to their hearts content.

Thanks for the memories 'Zilla!
