JAN 27, 16 .. ARAMBOL BEACH GOA .. PT 2 COURT YARD

The court yard outside of our apartment here at the VAILANKANNI Guest House is something special. This is an understatement.

The photos below will speak-for-themselves with a comment or two from me. I began standing in the NE corner of the court yard and snapped two photos. Then I walked to the SE corner .. to the SW corner and then to the NW corner snapping photos in each location. Then I went up on the roof and shot more photos.

Our apartment K-101 is to my back. The restaurant is in the left corner of the building straight ahead. Patti's court yard beds are to the left. The first photo below looks due West.
Below our apartment is on the immediate left. This photo looks due South.
From the SW corner our apartment is on the right behind the last purple door. This photo looks due North.
Below the corner of the restaurant is just to the left of the coconut palm tree in the center of the photo.
The restaurant is in the upper right corner of the below photo.
Patti and I sat at this table in the SE corner of the court yard until we relocated to the beds immediately outside of our apartment.
My post card writing was in progress.
The below photos look West down upon the court yard from the roof. The restaurant is on the right side of the below photo.
Looking down on the South side of the court yard.
Below are two night time photos of the exterior of the restaurant.
Basically the same photo. The above photo was with a flash and the below photo without a flash. Two different looks at the same venue. Interesting.
Looking due East at the South end of our building.
Our apartment is behind the small shrine.
A night photo of the above shrine.
The restaurant is behind me. The below photo looks diagonally SE. Our building is on the lower left below.
The next two photos below look East at our apartment.
Our apartment is the purple door on the left side.
Now I am up on the roof looking down at the court yard. Do all of you see Patti's day beds down on the right below?
Another view down showing Patti's day beds.

In these photos taken from the roof of the Guest House notice the blue netting that cover most of the court yard.

Well?

Do all of you know why the blue netting is covering the court yard? The photos below will give you a 'little hint'!

IF one of these coconuts falls from the tree and hits you in the head it could kill you! If a falling coconut hits you in the shoulder it could mean surgery to repair a rotator cuff.
Below is an interesting photo. Raj Kumar Sharma one of the employees here brought us the below coconut. Fascinating. Within each coconut Mother Nature gives a hopeful new tree everything it needs to begin a new life.
"Oh Dad! Why are you showing this very non-flattering view of me?" /s/ The VAILANKANNI Guest House.
Looking out towards the beach I reply .. "Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder! Your clothes line up on the roof is a very beautiful object of my affection."
"From my practical-point-of-view .. Your roof top clothes line is much safer to hang clothes than the clothes line down on the ground. People DO steal clothing!"

Below are a few scenes looking out towards the beach from the court yard.

The first two photos were taken from the ground.

The following four photos 'pan' from left to right and were taken from the roof of the Guest House.

Well?

Photographically speaking .. This is it for the VAILANKANNI Guest House.

Smiles from Patti and from Cap ..
If you haven't yet seen my post of the interior of our apartment continue to 'scroll down' to the post dated JAN 25, 16 ..

JAN 25, 16 .. ARAMBOL BEACH GOA .. PT 1 OUR PLACE

Well .. Sooner or later .. I hope you all KNOW that I will be back and active here on blogspot. So here we go with a post about where we are staying here in Arambol Beach.

Patti and I have stayed in two (2) apartments.

The first apartment that I am showing below is where I stayed from the 14th of November 2011 to the 4th of January 2012 .. Just over four (4) full years ago.

To be able to stay in and to share with Patti the very apartment that I first stayed at here in Arambol Beach is nothing short of a gift of grace.

We arrived here on Sunday the 10th of January and stayed in this apartment until we moved out on Saturday the 16th of January.
The above and below photos show it from a distance.

In the below photo .. On the second floor up above Patti .. The two folks are Pawan and his wife Doris from Belgium. They were also here in late 2011 and early 2012 and I got to know them at that time. Talk about old-home-week!

Below are three photos of our view from the porch and some of our beautiful flowers in the court yard.

Now we are going to look at our current apartment.

We moved into it on Saturday the 16th after leaving the above venue and will leave it this Thursday the 28th when we go to Chennai and Pondicherry (Puducherry) on the East Coast of India.

In the below photo .. Our current apartment is the bright yellow building on the right. Our former venue is to the left back in the shade of the coconut palm trees. Can you see it?

Nice don't you think? We walked 'next door' and found a great apartment. The Guest House complex (at least according to this sign) is called the VAILANKANNI.

Only in India do you find numerous spellings of the name of a venue.

Note if you will in the four photos immediately below that the name VAILANKANNI in this sign at the top of the Guest House has a letter I at the beginning of the name and then two (2) letter Ns at the end of its name.
Yes indeed. VAI and two letter Ns at the end of the name as clear as can be.

Below is a nice clear close-up of the above small blue sign to the left above. Just 'catch' its address!

WHAT?! It is clearly VAILANKANI but with only one (1) letter N at the end. And adding to the one-letter-N chorus comes the below nice clear sign.

WHAT! Below there is NO letter I at the beginning as there is in the above two spellings.

We have three spellings of the name of the Guest House.

VAILANKANNI
VAILANKANI
VALANKANI

The Guest House has a restaurant with a nice Menu. VAILANKANNI.

Now .. Here we go loop de loop .. Here we go loop de li .. out onto the beach.

VAILANKANNI .. It seems-to-be!!

Wait just one moment .. Not so fast .. Below we now have .. The second spelling .. VAILANKANI ..

And finally last-but-not-least .. the third spelling .. VALANKANI ..

VAILANKANNI ..

"The time has come the Walrus said!" for me to go to Google and to Wikipedia!

Our Lady of Good Health (Tamilஆரோக்கிய மாதா Ārōkkiya mātā), also known as Our Lady of Vailankanni, is a celebrated Catholic title of the Blessed Virgin Mary believed to have appeared in Velankanni Town,Tamil NaduIndia

THAT DOES IT !!

From this point forward I am going to use the spelling VAILANKANNI.

Whew huh? Well! You all got to see a few beach scenes on Arambol Beach didn't you?

"The time has (finally) come the Walrus said" to go inside of our apartment here at the VAILANKANNI.

Our apartment K-101 is the nearest door to the left below.
The below photo looks back at where I snapped the above photo. K-101 is the furthest door on the right below.

K-101 says .. "My door is open please come inside."
The refrigerator on the left below does NOT work. We use the refrigerator in the restaurant.

When I said we have an apartment .. I meant an apartment NOT just a room. A nice kitchen area.
Into the bedroom we now go.

To 'coin-a-phrase' .. Our bedroom is CHEERY!

To the right below is the door into our bathroom.
We have a very workable bathroom.
In our bathroom we have three frogs. There only seems to be one frog at a time. We have not seen several together. Below is the elder frog. It is amazing in such a small room how well they can hide from us. He is under the sink on the drain line. It is even more amazing as to how they enter and exit. We have seen one calmly climb up the wall but did not see him exit.
We love the colorful circles. We think of you SHADDY as we enjoy the wonderful color circles!!

Close-up photos of each of the four entirely different color circles!

Looking at our courtyard from the kitchen. Our court yard is so nice that a few photos can only begin to convey how special it is!
Looking out our door. Does anything 'jump-out' at you?

Notice the super nice beds. These are not lounges .. They are beds .. That await .. That beckon .. YOU guess who?

Your time to guess is up. Did you make the correct guess?
Hello Patti .. Hello Queen .. Hello Dear ONE ..

Guess who sits and writes post cards to YOU while keeping Patti company?

Our Guest House has an excellent restaurant.
The restaurant is directly straight ahead in the left corner of the building in the below photo snapped from our doorway.
We have come to really enjoy the excellent food and to cherish the fact that if we are tired we do not have to leave our court yard. After all .. as I have said many times .. This is a tough assignment but someone has got to do it! The two of us do get tired.
In the below photo .. Looking at Patti .. Our room is directly ahead.
There is a bar. We have seldom seen anyone using the bar. Those who imbibe sit in the courtyard rather than in the bar.
As we like to do .. We often eat in our room enjoying the finest coarse grained German Bread. I wonder why we do not have such bread in the U.S.  Do all of you see Patti in the left below.
Onto our bread we spread peanut butter and peach jam.

BUT when the spirit-moves-us .. We happily enjoy an omelette with crispy toast for 110 Indian Rupees (US $1.66) for the two of us combined.

Below Patti is enjoying mixed vegetable curry with a mint lassi. I have a grilled tuna sandwich with garlic bread.
Dinner for the two of us .. 510 Indian Rupees (US $ 7.84).
Let me tell you! The garlic bread is GARLIC BREAD!

"Well Walrus?" ..

"The time has come Captain to press publish and to finish this post of the apartment. In a second post tomorrow you can show the court yard in detail. Me thinks enough-is-enough for today My Captain!"

"You got it Walrus."

Over and out with Joy. THANKS for continuing to check this site even though I have been inactive for some time.

Cap and Patti ..
