I wonder how many, in fact I wonder IF, any of you have ever heard of a very small town (1,506 in 2010 census) named Avoca, Iowa.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avoca,_Iowa
Avoca, Iowa, is located on United States Highway Interstate 80. It is about a 45-minute, 40-mile drive East from the state line between Nebraska and Iowa. I passed through Avoca en route East to Michigan after I left North Platte, Nebraska.
SCENIC AVOCA, IOWA
MOTEL 6, AVOCA, IOWA
I really needed a room because, along with Patti, on Monday, June 12, 2017, I wanted to watch game 5 of the National Basketball Association Playoff Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
I am happy that I did because Golden State won the NBA championship that night and Patti and I had fun watching it together (Patti in Anchorage Alaska and me in Avoca Iowa).
I arrived close to 7pm with no reservation. I got the last room available. A smoking room. But I survived the stale, musty odor that goes-with a smoking room.
Some travelers 'bash' Motel 6.
Well Motel 6 critics and bashers, bash away so that I can continue to get rooms at Motel 6 when I need a clean and reasonably priced room.
SUBWAY SANDWICH SHOP, AVOCA.
As you can see in the photo below, the Subway Sandwich Shop in Avoca is almost immediately beside the Motel 6.
Just another, in a seemingly never ending series, of delicious Subway Footlong sandwiches.
Well that-is-that for Avoca, Iowa, says Baba Kaps.
"Whoa Baba Kaps." I hear a sort of booming voice exclaim.
"What about a visit to see us Baba Kaps?"
THE FARMALL-LAND USA MUSEUM
The FARMALL-LAND USA museum almost brought tears to my eyes as I realized the work that went into establishing it and what farming means to the State of Iowa.
I believe that many young people are not seeking a lifetime career of farming. So, at least to some extent, the museum is keyed to the children who visit.
Well that-is-that for the children.
Let's not forget those farm wives.
Back to the menfolk.

If you choose to visit TripAdvisor, you will see that there is only one attraction in Avoca, Iowa. It is #1 of 1 Things to do in Avoca.
We humans are an amazing species. Oh the pride of the Avoca, Iowa, farming community. I only barely touched-the-surface as to a complete photo-shoot of FARMALL-LAND USA.

Questions:
This is not a dealership selling brand new showroom farm equipment. This is a museum. Not one item is for sale. Can you imagine the money that is sitting in the museum?

We obviously spoke on the phone while you were in Avoca, Iowa (at Motel 6 specifically to watch the NBA Championship game) ... first time I have been aware of Avoca. However, being on I-80, we've passed through it on trips before. Who knew??? Farmall-Land USA is amazing ... all that equipment in the museum and all just for lookin' not buying. Such a small town, such an impressive museum. Smiles and love. Patti
ReplyDeleteThanks so very much My Dear One for your comment. Yes indeed I was in Avoca, Iowa, when we watched the game together. BUT I did not discover FARMALL-LAND USA until the next day. So happy you liked this Post and enjoyed it. I was very deeply touched by the love and the passion I saw in the museum as expressed by the farm community. Much Love. Cap
