Ignacio Anaya García, affectionately known as 'Nacho,' was a maître d' at the Victory Club in Piedras Negras, Mexico. In 1943, when a group of American women requested a snack after the kitchen had closed, he improvised by frying tortilla pieces, topping them with grated cheese and sliced jalapeños, then baking them.

NATIONAL BASKETBALL DAY..

OCT 22, 26.. THE DAY AFTER OUR FIRST SNOW..

Last Tuesday, the 20th of October, we had our first snow of the Winter 2026-27. It was real snow NOT just a light dusting.

Out back.

Out front.

So we don't leave anyone "wondering did it remain?", below we will show some photos taken yesterday, October the 21st, "The Day After" our first snow. 

No! The snow did not remain. It melted. BUT we did have a "dusting of snow" yesterday morning Wednesday.

The problem yesterday was the windows of our Suburban were frozen over with ice! I had to get an Ice Scraper and work at freeing the windows so I could see out!

It sure doesn't look it! BUT ..This.. Was.. A.. Job..

The ice was frozen tight against the windows and it was cold work!

The Windshield Wiper Blades were frozen to the glass. Only after I was driving, with the heat and defroster on, did they "free up". 

Notice the amount of snow frozen to the Hood.

Yes I cleared the entire Windshield.

When you park for the night, they are left extended!

There you have it! A few more days and, God Be Willing, Patti and I are "Out Of Here" until Spring!

OCT 21, 26.. WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR AUTUMN??

Just this past Friday, the 17th of October, we were raving about our beautiful Autumn..

Get it? Got it? Good!

Yesterday, snap your fingers, we awoke to our first look at Winter 2026-27.

Looking out our bedroom window.

Silly question! I wonder IF the snow fell in the back of our building?

Last Friday..

Yesterday morning!

Now I am on our front porch. 

The building next to us.

Now we "pan" to our right.

Whodda Thunk! This was NOT a "light dusting"! This was snow. 

Yes! It will not last. But.. Time to head for Arizona!

OCT 17, 26.. AUTUMN IN ANCHORAGE..

You can thank our good friend Gullible, or you can blame Gullible, for this short look at Autumn here in Anchorage, Alaska, yesterday on October the 16th.

Why?

Gullible has often advised me .. "Cap when you are stuck, go out, and take some photographs, and publish them."

We have not yet published one Post here on Google Blogspot this October.

Yesterday Patti and I had three (3 count them) medical appointments. One appointment will occupy a day. Three medical appointments take over a day!!

Finally Patti and I ended up at Providence Hospital for the final medical appointment.

As I was coming out of Providence, I was stunned with the absolute beauty of yesterday's Autumn leaves.
