OCT 18, 25.. AUTUMN LEAVES IN ANCHORAGE..

It's now Autumn 2025 up here in Anchorage.

Autumn everywhere is so beautiful.

Soon (early November) Patti and I will "fly away to Arizona" to spend winter there.

Before we two "fly away" we wanted to show you our local landscape contractor's annual project of clearing up and removing our Autumn Leaves.

Taa Daa..

Here we go!

Leaves? Did we say Leaves? We most certainly have leaves after our local trees have finished "shedding their green summer leaves".

Step One for our local landscaping contractor, is to move the leaves into several collection areas.

Yes Oh Yes Indeed. It is a "very loud project"!

Now the leaves have been gathered into several smaller collections.

Now the process of gathering the leaves up and removing them from our Green Strip begins.

This is "quite a process".

Now they move the leaves onto the flat, open, tarpaulin.

Now they are taking this load of leaves out to the front of our building.

At the front of our building, a special truck awaits the loads of leaves.

Whewie! As you can see, this is some job!

Last year Gullible asked us:

I wonder what happens to the leaves after they leave your area?

It depends 100% upon who owns the truck. The Municipality of Anchorage (MofA) or a private contractor hired by the MofA.

The MofA work crews dispose of them in various city owned dump sites, from ordinary sanitary land fill areas to other city owned dumps.

The private contractors are free to dispose of the leaves as they wish provided they do not break MofA Ordinances governing dumps.

Due to MofA Ordinances, the leaves are not used for mulch because of the odor that would arise therefrom.

The job is now finished for another year!

OCT 4, 25.. THE FAMOUS ALBUQUERQUE HOT AIR BALLOON SHOW..

The large majority of our Hot Air Balloon Posts, dating back to January the 25th, 2022, have been here on Google Blogspot and not on babakaps.net.

https://bobbacaps.blogspot.com/2022/01/jan-25-22-part-1-havasu-balloon.html

For this reason, even though I have already published the below information on dotnet..

https://babakaps.net/?p=73023

I have decided to also publish the above Post of this years Albuquerque, Hot Air Balloon Festival, here on Google Blogspot.

Also, I am not sure of how many people only read our Google Blogspot Posts here and not our dotnet Posts.

This hot air balloon festival takes place in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

With great thanks to NATIONAL TODAY, here we go.

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is a nine-day event that occurs annually during the first full week of October.

It begins on a Saturday. This year, it is held from October 4 to 12.

The Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta is the most photographed event on earth, and the largest annual international event held in the United States.

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta began in 1972 with a total of 13 balloons. Since its humble beginning, it has since become the largest balloon event in the world.

Now there are about 600 balloons and 700 pilots that are featured at The Balloon Fiesta.

The first gathering of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta was held in a parking lot. The following year the “First World Hot Air Balloon Championship” took place and 13 countries took part. This was held at the New Mexico State Fairgrounds.

By 1978 there were 273 entries. As the years went by the number of balloons steadily increased. In 2000 there were more than 1,000 balloons registered for the Balloon Fiesta.

There is now a cap on the number of balloons that can participate because there is limited landing site availability.

The first balloon fiesta was watched by 10,000 people, today up to 100,000 spectators may be watching on the launch field, and hundreds of thousands more fans watching from outlying areas and on T.V.

Its permanent home is more than 350 acres.

It costs $10 per person for general admission to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. Children 12 and younger can enter for free.
