AUG 2, 23 .. GREAT FALLS, MONTANA .. THANK YOU DAN

Dan, one of our best friends in Anchorage, was born and raised in Great Falls, Montana. As a result, although he lives in Alaska, we call him "Montana Dan". Dan just sent us a few photos that he snapped during his current visit in Great Falls, Montana.

Amazing! A friend in Montana, snaps a few photos with his smart phone and presto, we have copies!

For a quick overview of Great Falls, Montana, have a look at the below Wikipedia link.

GREAT FALLS, MONTANA

When Dan texted us these photos, he did not tell us where, in late July, he found three small pieces of ice!

So Patti and I just telephoned Dan and we asked him.

"Dan? Where did you find the little ice balls in July?"

"They are pieces of hail. I was in the basement taking a nap and I heard thunder outside. So I got up, got into my car and drove toward some very dark skies. All of a sudden the skies opened up and a hail storm ensued."

"Then, just like that, the sun came out and I snapped the below rainbow!"

To Dan, and to each and to every single one of you who follow us and contribute to us with photos, miscellaneous material and yes, comments sure count as support!, with out YOUR support we could not possibly keep our websites active.

Thank YOU!

Two additional photos from Dan after we published this Post.

Thanks yet again "Montana" Dan.

JUL 29, 23 (1/2).. A RAINY SUMMER UP HERE IN ALASKA

Where, Oh Where, Oh Where Does The Time Fly Away to?

We have not published a post here on blogspot since July the 4th. Oddly THAT post at Denny's showed rain as well.

Below are a few photos of our summer 2023 here in Anchorage, Alaska.

Looking from the front porch of our Condominium Building at our parking lot.

If you want "Dark and Rainy" in the first photo below you have it.

Looking out front from our bedroom window, towards our street, Eastridge Drive.

From our living room, looking out at our backyard.

15th Avenue that borders our neighborhood.

Down on the Seward Highway.

Get it? Got it? Good!

Recently we actually had a few sunny days.

And what did we do on one of our good days?

We headed for Hillstrand Pond, just a 15 minute walk up the street from our Condo to check out the ducks.

The below link will take you to Part 2 to see our "Sunny" visit to Hillstrand Pond.

JUL 29, 23 (2/2) .. HILLSTRAND POND .. ON A SUNNY DAY

In Part 1 of 2 above, we showed you what a rather dark and rainy summer we have been experiencing this Summer of 2023.

Well we hit a sunny spell (of just several days) and took advantage of it to visit Hillstrand Park, a 15 minute walk up the street from our condo.

In the first photo below, we leave the street and head down the path to the pond. Do you all see what we mean about a "Sunny" Day?

In the above photo, we have reached the end of the first path, we then turn to the right and head for Hillstrand Pond.

We come to a very pleasant bridge.

Very nice!

HILLSTAND POND

To the very best of our memories, this is the first time that Patti and I have ever seen a pair of Canadian Geese nesting here at Hillstrand Pond! They have two precious baby Goslings!

It would appear that the Gander (male Goose) is telling the Mallard Ducks to "keep your distance"!

Well Mister Gander, it looks like the ducks listened to you!

And home to their nest on the island in the center of the pond the family of four glided away.

Lots of Mallard Ducks.

And there you have it! Our wonderful visit to Hillstrand Pond on a very pleasant afternoon.
