THE WOODWARD DREAM CRUISE ..
Ah gentle readers over in India .. who follow-along-here .. what on God's Green Earth is this word WOODWARD ?
"What's that 'Zilla? YOU too were wondering about the same thing?" Let me explain !
Detroit is a large city located in the Southeast corner of the State of Michigan in the United States of America. The extreme downtown and southern side of Detroit fronts on the Detroit River .. a river that divides the United States of America from Canada and the city of Windsor Ontario.
A great trivia question is this: IF you head due SOUTH from Detroit Michigan in the United States of America .. what is the first foreign country that you will enter?
The answer is: Canada !
Several major roads (Fort Street .. Michigan Ave .. Grand River Ave .. WOODWARD AVE .. Gratiot Ave .. East Jefferson Ave ..) radiate (almost like the spokes of a wheel) outward from the very heart of Detroit.
"Shaddy! He has discovered color high-lighting!" .. /s/ Gullible !
Woodward Avenue runs basically 'due north' from downtown Detroit and passes into the northern Detroit suburbs of Highland Park .. Ferndale .. Royal Oak .. Birmingham .. Bloomfield Hills .. and Pontiac.
As you can see from the photo below .. Woodward Avenue is a major roadway here in Detroit Michigan!
THE WOODWARD DREAM CRUISE consists of various automotive vehicles and trucks and 'you-name-them' that parade along WOODWARD AVENUE for all-to-see!
THE WOODWARD DREAM CRUISE began in August 1995 when the Nelson House and volunteers began a small fund-raiser to raise money for a SOCCER FIELD in Ferndale. 250,000 thousand people ! .. Ten times the number expected .. participated!
THE WOODWARD DREAM CRUISE is the world's largest
one-day automotive event! An estimated 1.5 million people (don't question me .. it seems like a very-high figure .. question our buddies at 'Google"!) and 40,000 classic vehicles from around-the-United States-and-the-globe participate.
Thank you 'Google' !
The WOODWARD DREAM CRUISE begins at 8-Mile Road on the border between Highland Park and Ferndale and runs clear out to Pontiac.
The HEART of the cruise appears to be from 12-Mile Road in Royal Oak to 14-Mile Road in Royal Oak. However there is certainly a lot-of-action on the other sections of Woodward Avenue that are included in the cruise.
So (FINALLY CAPTAIN!) here-we-go ..
Look-At-The-Church .. Look-At-The-Steeple .. and now will you all ..

People and cars, people and cars, people and cars...what an event!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love how you bring 'Zilla, Google and even Shaddy into your post. Very entertaining! Does Patti enjoy all of this as much as you do? Watching you and all your antics must be quite entertaining without the cars and people.
The cars and so photogenic, the people not so much. Many seem to add thirty pounds when a camera captures them. Oh, they are just plain fat, huh, 'Zilla! Unfortunately, such is the case no matter where we go these days. Forgive me for making fun at the expense of others, but...it ain't purty!!
You are too funny Shaddy .. I would have to guess that Patti would say : "Life around Cap Is NEVER boring .. I just hook my carabiner to his belt loop and I HANG ON FOR THE RIDE!"
ReplyDeleteWithout YOU and 'Zilla and all of my other followers this website would be nothing and mean nothing. 'Zilla and his questions keeps me on my toes .. Smiles ..
