DEC 12, 15 .. A WONDERFUL ART EXHIBITION ..

If you are not into art but idly scroll down this post be sure to go to the bottom to read .. THE REST OF THE STORY ..

Last Thursday the 10th of December .. Quite by accident .. I discovered a wonderful exhibition of art here in Hong Kong on the 7th floor of the Hong Kong City Hall.

Patti and I were using the computer room here on the 6th floor of city hall. I decided to go up to the reference room to do some work while Patti continued to be on-line. As I was taking the elevator up from the 6th floor to the 9th floor it stopped at the 7th floor. As I looked straight out of the elevator I viewed the below scene.

I had no idea whatsoever that the 7th floor of city hall was an Exhibition Gallery.

So last Thursday I stepped out of the elevator and did a thorough walk-through of an amazing exhibition of art. I then got Patti and the two of us viewed the exhibition.

This evening .. the 12th of December .. Patti and I were again at city hall using the computers on the 6th floor. I said to Patti ..

"I wonder if the art exhibition is still active up on the 7th floor? I am going up to see."

It was and so I did the below photo-shoot.

As one entered the Exhibition Gallery there was a amazing series of phenomenal floral arrangements waiting to greet visitors.

As I entered the Exhibition Gallery I thought that the exhibition was one of Floral Arrangements!

Seeing the above and below floral scenes how could I help but think otherwise.
Walking past the above floral arrangements and proceeding directly straight ahead ..
The below artwork was on display to greet and to welcome visitors.
A close up of the above artwork ..

Since I do not understand Chinese and I hadn't a clue as to what I was observing I am just going to show you the photos that I snapped this evening. I am not able to explain them.

Beauty is after all .. BEAUTY.
I do not have to understand the above work to KNOW that it is beautiful and in a word .. phenomenal ..

I never seem to tire of looking at the Chinese characters that I am surrounded by here in Hong Kong nor do I ever stop being amazed and fascinated by them.

It is all beautiful in my humble opinion.
Just study the below work .. Is it a knight errant going off to engage in a psychological challenge of the mind with his Guru ..

The exhibition certainly was 'sizeable'. It involved a fair number of viewing areas ..

IF my Chinese friends look at this post I hope they don't think to themselves .. "Cap .. You have already snapped this display."

IF I remember to do so .. And yes .. With me it is a BIG IF .. I will come back to the below artwork further below ..

Today's Rhetorical Question: How could I NOT snap all of these photos. Just study the below scene ..
What deeply contemplative thought is the man out on the above cliff edge far above the clouds of daily life thinking ..

Now I have doubled back to the entrance area.
On the above table were what appeared to me to be sign in sheets for visitors to express their feelings and gratitude at this amazing exhibition.

Now I wish that I had photographed all of the many pages that were available. Goodness! In my eyes these pages themselves were fine art!

And now .. May God Forever Bless And Keep You Mister Paul Harvey ! .. We have arrived at ..

THE REST OF THE STORY ..

In the below photo the man on the left wearing the white shirt .. upon seeing my reverent demeanor about everything that I was seeing .. especially my photographing the above expressions of appreciation and gratitude ..
He said himself in a quiet and reverent tone of voice ..

"Sir THE artist and his wife are ahead of you to the right."

Now I was armed with new information. Having been told that THE artist was ahead of me I realized that this was a one-man art show.

So out and off I went ..

Below I want you all to meet .. Malone YUEN .. THE artist with his wife Fong She Mei on the left and Mei's professor Sonia during her University years in London England on the right.
Below Malone YUEN on the right is with his friend Patrick on the left ..
People chemistry is so amazing. As the two of us were shaking hands Patrick proudly said to me that he was age 75. When I replied I am age 79 Patrick noticeably brightened and then I KNEW that I was a member of THE CLUB!

Patrick and ' Mei ' studying one of Malone YUEN's works ..

Notice in the background of the above photo the large artwork on the wall. Below I again show a closeup of this amazing piece of art.
We are indeed living in an age of wonders. I have remembered to come back to the below art work.
Now that I had suddenly become a member of THE CLUB .. 'Mei' produced for me an exquisite program that she had developed for her husband's exhibition. There on its cover is the above artwork. In fact 'Mei' put together the exhibition itself.
Since I was among artists it is no wonder that the program itself was a work-of-art.

Opening up and expanding the above front of the program you see it more fully.
Below I have shown the other side of the program as it appears when opened out and expanded ..
As you can see above .. The program also features the below amazing work of art.
Because 'Mei' told me that her husband is very well known in the local Hong Kong 'scene' as a political cartoonist as well as a prominent artist I felt that I was indeed in the company of elegant royalty.

If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is Thank You it will be enough .. Meister Eckhart ..

Thank you so very much 'Mei' and Malone YUEN and Patrick and Sonia for welcoming me so graciously into your most elegant presence this evening.

Will the below photo serve to show me wearing the 'crown' of perhaps a Prince.

Smiling From Ear To Ear. Am I The Luckiest Man In The World. I Think I Am.

To my Chinese friends here in Hong Kong. I am actually writing this on Sunday the 13th of December. Since it is published in the United States which is about 16 hours behind us I like my date to match the date of publication in the U.S. which is the 12th of  December.

  1. I am so glad you came upon this art exhibition and that you met the artist himself. What goes around, comes around, Cap. You apparent appreciation of what you were seeing motivated the fellow who introduced you to the artist.

Keep your eyes open, as you always do. I get to benefit from your observations.

    Thank you so much,
    Shaddy

    1. There is no doubt in my mind that my interest and absolute fascination with the sign-in book for visitors prompted the man at the table to point out to me the artist. Being somewhat a marked-man due to being foreign I also feel this same man noticed the great interest I also had in the flowers and the art work itself. I was not just a ho-hum idle visitor. Are you enjoying Florida and the sun and warmer climes. Thanks so much for your interest. Cap and Patti ..

  4. What a wonderful experience happening upon this exquisite art show and amazing fate to be in the presence of the artist and his wife. You obviously made his day, reassuring him of the true reason for his creating his art, for sharing with others, like you and Patti, who made it all worth while. Your kind respect and regard for his hard work, as well as the honor of showing his magnificint art at the government building, truly allowed him to touch the masses. Here I am in San Francisco enjoying the art of a renound Chinese artist as shared by my Alaskan friend. The world is becoming so much smaller, yet beautifully intimate as I share this from you. Thank you. I hope Hong Kong is displaying it's holiday beauty. I just love the buildings all lit up and the reflections in Victoria Harbor. Merry Christmas Cap and Patti! Fondly, Kitty
