SEP 22, 16 .. A ROAD TRIP IN ALASKA

Patti and I took a short road trip here in Alaska and we wanted to post a few photos thereof.

We motored North out of Anchorage on Tuesday the 30th of August and returned on Wednesday the 7th of September.

First stop going North was Wasilla Alaska. The Krazy Moose Sub Shop is a local favorite.

The below building that houses the Krazy Moose is a famous local building dating back many decades.

 A one-of-a-kind NOT a franchise.

I am here to tell you all that the below photo DOES NOT do justice to the Tuna Sub we enjoyed here at the Krazy Moose Sub Shop. The bread was absolutely phenomenal.

 The owner's personal license plate.

The next stop on our road trip was at Milepost 146 of the Park's Highway.

The Alaska Veterans Memorial.

My father served in the Coast Guard.
My youngest son served in the Air Force.
I was a commissioned officer in the Navy CBs.
I was an enlisted member of the Marine Corps.
My eldest son served in the Army.

When you turn 180-degrees around from the above memorial and return to your automobile, you see the following views of Alaska's Mount McKinley now known officially as Denali, the tallest mountain in North America.

Captain this is a program of honesty. Tell the whole truth.

At the maximum, perhaps 30-days a year, you get the below clear views of the summit. The rest of the year it is in the clouds.

The 7 Gables Inn and Suites, Fairbanks, Alaska

When you enter the building (to the left above) below is the scene that greets you. It is wonderful.

Do you want a nice room? I mean, do you want a really nice room? Stay at the 7 Gables.

Do you want a nice (included) breakfast? Do you want a really nice breakfast? Stay at the 7 Gables.

Do you just want to stay at a nice place? Do you want to stay at a really nice place? Stay at the 7 Gables.

In our measured opinion, based upon our considerable actual experience, The 7 Gables Inn and Suites in Fairbanks, Alaska, is the best Bed and Breakfast in the United States.

The Noel Wien Public Library, Fairbanks.

What an incredible library the Noel Wien Library is!

Out and off to Manley Hot Springs where we have a home.

You head out of Fairbanks on the Steese Highway and then in about 10-miles you leave The Steese to travel the Elliot Highway to Manley.

Hilltop Truck Stop about 15 miles out of Fairbanks.

Patti and I ate 'very light'.

Soup ..

And a sandwich.

Wickersham Dome Trailhead is 28-miles out of Fairbanks.

Locals and visitors alike use the wilderness trails that abound here in Alaska.

Stopping to relax at facilities such as this helps one to navigate the 160-mile drive from Fairbanks to Manley Hot Springs.

Onward we now proceed.

In the above photo to the right and the below photo to the left, if you will look closely, you can see the famous Alaska oil pipeline

Another 'landmark' trail head en route out to Manley Hot Springs.

The Elliot Highway now turns to the left and we have 76.5-miles to drive until we arrive into Manley Hot Springs.

Below we have reached Ptarmigan Pass. This is another one of the major landmarks on the trip

Don't tell me! We have reached Manley Hot Springs Alaska, at milepost 149 of the Elliot Highway.

We will 'buy that' !
