SEP 5, 19 .. A FEW OF MY 83rd BIRTHDAY ACTIVITIES

What did I do today, September 5th 2019, the day of my 83rd Birthday? It turned out to be one "Hum Dinger" of a Birthday!

One month ago, my host here in Irkutsk Sergey said that he was putting September 5th on both of our respective 'calendars'.

Today, together, he and his wife Rimma celebrated their 35th Wedding Anniversary and I celebrated my 83rd Birthday!

This afternoon we drove from Irkutsk to Taltsy, to visit the Taltsy Architectural and Ethnographic Museum. Taltsy is like no other museum that I have ever seen. Taltsy is located about 30 miles South of Irkutsk on the road to Listvyanka. It is a very special place for Sergey and Rimma.

The below link has two maps showing where Taltsy is located:

Below are some photos that I snapped of our outing to Taltsy.

From 1974 to 1978 I lived in West Germany with my wife and two sons. During this four year period, I owned five motorcycles.
The first two were fitted with side cars.

So when we pulled into a gas station on our way to Taltsy there sat a motorcycle-sidecar rig, and out came my camera!!

THE TALTSY ARCHITECTURAL AND ETHNOGRAPHIC MUSEUM.

The below list of DO NOT DO items is something isn't it?

A few photos showing the grounds in general.

The next four photos below are of a schoolhouse.

If you ever visit Taltsy, bring comfortable shoes and excellent knees.

The time has come to take-a-break and get something to eat.

My host, my friends. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Whew!

After the above visit to Taltsy was finished and we were back in Irkutsk, to save my friends a lot of time and avoid rush-hour traffic, I asked them to please drop me off at a Tram stop and I would happily ride a Tram home.

The below Tram photo was taken last February of 2019 after Patti joined me in Irkutsk.

So what is the big deal? Tram 239 was the very first ever Tram or Bus that Patti rode here in Russia. Quite often during our time in Irkutsk, we would again ride Tram 239 or see it as we were on other Trams. Tram 239 became our Tram Friend!

I could NOT believe my eyes when Number 239 pulled up to take me home. So out came my camera.

For my Birthday Dinner, I decided to eat at the Hotel Irkutsk where Patti and I enjoyed several very pleasant meals during her stay here. So together (Patti in spirit) we enjoyed my Birthday dinner.

Below is our favorite table.

I love their Chicken Caesar Salads.

I love their XL Burger!

My hat and coat are on Patti's chair.

I brought my own knife to cut the burger in half so as to make it much easier  to eat. I love to eat salads with chopsticks. One small bite at a time. They all wanted to come along and eat-out for a change.

After dinner I walked to the Angara River for a quick Birthday visit with Patti.

Look who were waiting for me to come home.

Oh yes, thanks to Patti and my friends Sergey and Rimma here in Irkutsk, I had a most enjoyable 83rd Birthday.

Cap and Patti

  1. My goodness .. what a museum. How tender that you and Sergey and Rimma were able to celebrate the day of your birthday and their anniversary together. The museum does look like a LOT of walking .. "bring comfortable shoes and good knees" you said! It was fun to share the day with you on the phone several times, topped off by your hotel dinner and a touch with the Angara River Walk. Happy Birthday - it is still your birthday for several hours yet here in the states!! Love, Patti

    1. My Dearest Patti .. I have no idea whatsoever as to where the energy came from for me to put this Post together and then publish it in conjunction with a Post over on dot.net. God and the Universe were with and behind me I feel. I wanted it up ON September the 5th and managed to do so.

It was a great day and only photos would give you a idea about Taltsy so off I went on the project. As you well know .. I did have a lot of photos to work through.

Yes Oh Yes it was fun and it was important to me to share the day with you many more than several times. We made eighteen or so calls I think.

This now-past-year in my life, age 82, was some year wasn't it?

Much Love and Thanks and Gratitude for you and for your support. Now to call you and visit some more. Cap
