Patti and I live in a six-unit condominium. Each unit has one specified parking place in a carport behind our building that is impossible to see from our unit.
Out in front of our Condo we have three, open to the community, parking places. There are no restrictions as to who may park in these three spaces. From our Condo, we can easily see these parking places. Because of random vandalism in our community, we much prefer to park out front where we can see our truck.
It makes sense to do ones best to get along with neighbors. With this in mind, Patti and I do our very best to park as close as we can to our outside line to give the other two vehicles the maximum room we can give them.
In the next three photos, notice if you will, the total lack of clear parking lines.
Above and below there are basically no yellow parking lines.
When you are parking, you simply can't see the remainder of the former parking line.
In the below photo, you can see the short remainder of a long ago yellow parking place line.
In the below photo, each of us has given the other the maximum space to park that we can.
It has taken years but I finally decided to do what I could do to assist Patti and I to park as close as possible to one side of our parking place.
What to do? Paint our own yellow line so at least we can easily know when we have done our best to assist our neighbors, many of whom are in and out during the day.
In the next two photos below, you can see the faded remnants of a long ago yellow line.
Well Hello Peter Rabbit! How nice of you to join me!
To be sure my line did not wander, I painted it in individual segments. Then joined the segments to make one pretty straight line.
Voila! Just look at our new, yellow parking line.
Peter Rabbit you are really something.
Fun huh? Well Your Captain had some fun. From start to finish, it took me eight days to finish the project.
Smiles .. Cap and Patti who really helped me out when I needed more newspapers and other supplies.

We are now "into winter".
Our Yellow Line is proudly surviving!
Oh the dreaded parking line. Wherever I go, I try to always park in the middle. I will open up my driver side door to see how close I am to the line and then re-park if need be. If I'm in the end of spot, I tried to park as close to the edge as I can. Needless to say, I am annoyed with people who park at an angle or park on the line, even though they might be on the line because the car on the other side was on the line. Parking is one of the "joys" of being an adult.
ReplyDeleteHow nice Kathleen that you can "relate" to our wanting to maximize the space the other two vehicles have to park their cars because they have no yellow lines to help them. There is nothing at all next to our truck on one side (the right side or the left side depending if we drive straight in or back in) but an open space surrounding our buildings mail delivery postal boxes. Smiling at your understanding the situation Kathleen. Cap and Patti
DeleteExcellent job on the yellow line!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathleen for your comment on my "excellent job". It was a project but well worth the effort. Cap and Patti
