NOV 26, 20 (PART 4 of 4) .. REAL WINTER 2020-21 IN ANCHORAGE

One of our favorite activities during the warm Summer and Autumn months is to take a short (20-minutes each way) walk to Hillstrand Pond located adjacent to our subdivision.

On August 11th, 23rd and 31st, I did a three part series of Posts showing Hillstrand Pond.

Just in case you want to review what Hillstrand Pond looks like in the Summer you can click onto the below link.

Below are several 'memory joggers' showing Hillstrand Pond in the Summer followed by some Winter views.

The SNOW has arrived. Our temperatures have varied from 3
°F up to 32°F.

The Bridge at Hillstrand Pond.

It no longer looks as you see it above.

When you cross the Bridge, ahead of you is the picnic table that we enjoy sitting at in the warm weather.

Oh My .. Oh My .. Mister Picnic Table. What has happened to your nice weather?

HILLSTRAND POND

During the warm weather.

We have lived here for some thirty plus years. Odd but we did not know if the ducks 'winter over' here or migrated South.

Winter has arrived.

To be honest, I could not believe my eyes when I saw the below scene unfold before me.

We plan to head South to Arizona this upcoming December the 5th and remain there into April. So we will not have first-hand knowledge as to whether the ducks will remain all winter or go elsewhere, migrate or remain here in the greater Anchorage area.

We have so much to be Thankful for on this Thanksgiving Day 2020. We hope this is the case for each and everyone of you as well.

Hugs from Patti and Smiles from Cap

One person CAN indeed make a difference in our lives. Five days ago our friend Kleiner Bär (in German this means small bear) simply asked me where Part 2 was. Thanks so very much for getting me fired up again. Kleiner Bär's husband is Grosser Bär (LARGE bear). We go back some forty five years ago when we met in West Germany.

NOV 24, 20 (PART 3 of 4) .. REAL WINTER 2020-21 IN ANCHORAGE

This is the third post showing our first (call it) serious snow of the winter season 2020-21 here in Anchorage, Alaska.

In case you missed Parts 1 and 2, the below link will take you back to the two of them.

http://bobbacaps.blogspot.com/2020/11/nov-22-20-part-2-of-3-real-winter.html

We will begin with photos of our front parking lot and of our truck.

After our first dusting of snow

Here came THE SNOW.

Section by section. Stroke by stroke. The snow is removed prior to driving.

Walking to the far end of the parking lot and looking back you see the below view. If you look closely at the below photo, you can see the rear of our truck.

"Hello Hello! Welcome to our parking lot Mister Snow Plow."

The snow has to go someplace so, as you can see below, it is stockpiled into snow banks.

A very nice aside. I just happened to be taking some trash out to our trash dumpster when Mister Snow Plow arrived. Because of my injured right arm, I was having a lot of trouble lifting the lid of the dumpster to deposit my trash. Suddenly the snow plow operator dismounted from his plow and lifted up the lid for me. As he returned to his plow we waved at one another.

Several photos of the common area behind our condominium.

On a lovely Autumn Day.

After our first dusting of snow.

And here came THE SNOW.

Now we are back out front on the street side of our condo.

Now we are going to just walk around our neighborhood.

First we step back in time to our first dusting of winter snow.

And here came THE SNOW.

There can be no doubt as to the beauty of the snow in winter (anywhere one has real winter).

Our final Part 4 Post is coming up soon.

Patti is sending Hugs and I am sending Smiles ..
