ANCHORAGE, ALASKA, NORTH TO FAIRBANKS, ALASKA.
Patti and I are planning to visit our cabin in Manley Hot Springs, Alaska, for a week or maybe even two weeks.
Our trip began under sunny skies as we left Anchorage at 3:45pm yesterday afternoon the 9th of September and headed North to Fairbanks.
Then the sunny skies began to get just a tad dark.
Then just look at what we ran into.
RAIN.
Then, along with the rain, we encountered a 35-minute road construction delay.
You have to realize that we are in Alaska. It is September. Autumn is ending. Winter is eagerly creeping into the far North.
Do you see some snow on the distant mountain tops?
All is well that ends well.
We arrived safe and sound (in spite of some serious rain and fog on the road) at our incredible and wonderful room here at the 7 Gables Inn in Fairbanks.
Just look at our luxurious room.
And? In a few hours, we will head out from Fairbanks to Manley Hot Springs.
Smiling at being-on-the-road again.

Post Script : As I sign off here it is approaching 3am in the morning of Thursday the 10th of September. Patti finally conked-out and went to bed. So? I won't have the benefit of Patti's proof-reading.
Great scenery-I am looking at Fairbanks weather, looks like you may not have icy roads to contend with.Keeping our fingers crossed
ReplyDeleteThanks so very much Tom for your comment. Happily we encountered NO icy roads on this trip North Tom. Cap and Patti

DeleteHi Cap and Patti,
ReplyDeleteA belated Happy Birthday to each of you. I have not been checking your blogs as often as I sometimes have. I might be down to once a month from once a week. Anyways, it is good to see what you are up to. I remember the trip to Manley fondly, as I do the whole week I spent with you in AK. Things are well with all of us. Smiles and hugs, Chad
Nice memories indeed from that long ago trip for you up here Chad. Thanks for your Birthday Wishes to the two of us. Cap and Patti
