On Wednesday, September 9th, Patti and I drove North from Anchorage, Alaska, to Fairbanks, Alaska. The drive of 360-miles took us just under 8 hours.
On September 10th, I posted photos of our drive and the lovely hotel where we stayed. The below link will take you to that post.

On September 10th, we then drove 160-miles from Fairbanks to our alternate home in Manley Hot Springs.
And then we hit-the-wall as to future posts here on blogspot during our visit to Manley because we could not achieve an internet connection in Manley. Prior to going up to Manley, I purchased an expensive (for me) cell phone plan that I believed and was told that would allow me to use my Samsung Galaxy A10 Smartphone as a hot-spot for my laptop with 15 Gigabytes of data usage available. Alas! Alak! After five long telephone conversations with my cell phone provider, I was totally unable to connect to the internet. I am not an I.T. (Information Technology) professional but I finally was able to ascertain (my cell phone company did NOT tell me this) after talking to a local I.T. professional that a 2G cell tower will NOT service a 5G smartphone.
This past Monday the 28th of September we left Manley and drove back to Fairbanks. Yesterday September 29th we drove back to Anchorage.
So we are now 'home' in Anchorage with all of the high tech amenites (a desirable or useful feature or facility of a building or place) we have learned to love and to treasure.
When we returned after being away for three weeks (20 days) Patti was shocked to see that her beloved flowers had survived three weeks without her tender daily love and caring attention.
Two photos looking out at our Autumn colored backyard taken from our living room.
Below are several photos of her flowers as they appear after our three week get-away.
Notice her yellow Begonia in the next two photos. Patti feels that the begonia looks fuller that it was when we left September 9th.
Below you see the other side of our back porch with its flowers.
As I just wrote above, Patti could not believe how nice her flowers looked after not having received any attention from her for the past three weeks.
Well you all know the basics. We are back home in Anchorage. We could not publish any posts online while we were in Manley. Now I plan to write and publish a number of posts showing some aspects of our life out in the Alaska Bush.
Smiles Cap and Hugs from Patti
Hi Cap and Patti. I am happy to see you're both home safe and sound. And quite shocked that Patti's flowers look so wonderful. Especially the yellow begonias! Thank you for posting. Kathleen Brady
ReplyDeletePatti really loved your comment (as of course so too did I Kathleen) about the yellow begonias. THANKS for your comment and interest. Cap and Patti
