After a considerable amount of 'hand-wringing' and 'mental gymnastics' I have decided to go ahead and create the below Post showing the train trip that I just took this morning .. May the 28th 2015 .. on the Shatabdi Express from New Delhi South to Agra Cantt here in India.
Why the drama Captain? Why the 'hand-wringing' and all of your 'mental gymnastics'?
Several reasons. First I published a Post showing this identical train trip a few weeks ago on May the 18th. Second the scenery today was marginal at best. Third the weather today was poor .. it ranged from cloudy and hazy to just dim.
Add this to the above: I was sitting backwards. So I had no choice of what I was going to photograph since I could in no-way look forward. All I could do was point and shoot and hope I caught something of interest.
Sports Fans! Your Captain struck-out on the scenery!
So why publish it? Because it is the only train trip I will ever in this lifetime have on May the 28th of 2015.
IT IS WHAT IT IS!! .. It is unvarnished .. plain and mundane if you so choose those adjectives. And IF you choose to not look at it .. fine .. I understand.
Here we go to Agra Cantt on India's Shatabdi Express Train.
Looking back behind me you see the entry door into my coach.
We have cleared the New Delhi Railway Station yards and are now in the countryside.
Yes! Yes! and Yes! It looked as drab and dismal as these photos look.
An egg omelette with 'brown bread' that thinks that it is toast!
You make these omelettes into an omelette sandwich and they are really tasty.
We are now into the Agra Cantt Railway Station. Have I ever mentioned in any of my Posts that there are a few people here in India?
Below is what our train coaches looked like. Pretty spiffy.
Below are what regular train coaches look like. The Statabdi Express is a fully air conditioned premier luxury train.
The railway tracks in India are home to far more freight trains than passenger trains.
And I arrived at the Pawan Hotel .. MY HOTEL here in Agra Cantt since 1991!
How very nice to see you Akhilesh!
Come On Akhilesh! We go back decades! Are you glad to see me?
Thanks for giving me MY current room .. The room I had a week or so ago .. It is like an old friend!
Here is a thought to end this with. On the train I sat with a young man from Shanghai China. This was to be only one of a few railroad trips that he would be making. He was coming to Agra Cantt to see the Taj Mahal. What he saw with me is what he will take with him in his memory for the rest of his life. I feel sad for him that the Taj will not be at her best this day either.
Smiles and Blessings .. Cap and Patti my proof-reader!

It is what it is ... some of the countryside (much of the countryside) between New Delhi and Agra is kinda dull and drab even on a sunny day. You did a pretty good job shooting backwards and not really knowing at the time what you were shooting. Akhilesh's smile made the whole post shine brightly!! Nice to know you are safely there and back in "your room" at the Hotel Pawan. My best to Jeevan. Hugs. Patti
ReplyDeleteYou said it all .. On a good day .. the scenery is not-the-best .. but .. IT IS WHAT IT IS .. Love .. Cap ..
DeleteI'm glad you posted these photos. Not all photos and all places we visit in our lives are as pretty as others. This is what you saw so, by golly, this is what you shared.
ReplyDeleteTake care.
Thanks Shaddy .. Yes .. as Patti said above and as I said in my Post .. IT IS WHAT IT IS .. We did not tip over or die did we? Fun ..
DeleteThe one and only time in my life that I saw the Taj Majal the weather was quite foggy. After entering the gate, we walked in fog so thick we could scarcely see 25 feet ahead of us. And then, slowly appearing in the mist, this incredible edifice dedicated to love began to show itself bit by incredible bit, arch by stunning arch, like first seeing individual trees and then the magnificent forest. Don't feel too badly for your companion from China.
ReplyDeleteWell said .. it is all an experience .. and maybe you were better off in the cool fog than in the searing heat .. What I could not understand was my Shanghai friend would not take my window seat .. But he continued to shoot photos across the lady between us .. I can't imagine how his photos came out .. That winter fog here in Agra is something else .. YOU DID EXPERIENCE THAT .. What a great Attitude !!
