The time has come the Walrus said to show you THE BEACH at Arambol in the Northern part of Goa.
Since this part of the small village of Arambol IS the beach it is called ..
Taa-Daa ..
ARAMBOL BEACH ..
Let's Rock ..
Oh Captain! Is this going to be one-of-those days you have? Do you actually expect anyone to think that the above photo is a photo of a beach? Any beach anywhere?
Well Mumtaz .. You are indeed beautiful. Patti and I did go from seeing you in Agra Cantt to taking the train to Arambol Beach so it sort-of-fits to show you off. After all Mumtaz you are one of the World's Beautiful and Grand Ladies.
Captain we are over here on Blogspot your dressed-up web site. We are NOT on Dot.Net where it is down-to-earth and nitty-gritty time. So enough Captain with all of your rhetoric!
"Play it again Sam!"
"He Is Risen at the beach!"
ARAMBOL BEACH ..
In the rooms we say that this is a program of honesty. I would not want to mis-lead anyone following along here. You do NOT just arise as our Savior did and mystically arrive at the above vantage point looking down upon Arambol Beach.
Do all of you see The Cross (WAY UP THERE) on the ridge line in the photos below?
To begin the climb you walk to the extreme left (West) side of the below photo because that is where the trail up the small mountain begins. Once you are up (pant pant) to the top of the hill (Oops! small mountain) you have another hike East to get to The Cross.
It's a little hard to see The Cross in the below photo. Look just left of the palm trees up on the ridge line. See it up there?
Below I 'waded' out into the water to show you another view of the North end of Arambol Beach. If you look closely you can see The Cross. Do you see it just to the right of dead center? At the extreme left of the photo you see a formation of very jagged rocks. You are going to see more photos of this rock formation than you can imagine.
"Aw-w-w Captain! Did you wade out into the water up-to-your knees to snap the above photo just for us?" ..
"It's what I do!"
Back to the above photo. Up on the ridge line is a small white monument that is not visible from the beach.
Continuing ..
To the North on the far side of the above hill (small mountain) is yet another completely isolated beach area of Arambol. You can either walk North when you are physically up on the ridge line and then look down upon this other beach or you can go to the extreme left of the above photo and walk around the above hill (I'm a small mountain Dad!) walking very closely to the jagged rock formation and along the coast line. We are going to do both in this Post.
Now you are REALLY going to have to squint to see The Cross! In the photo below The Cross is about two-fingers from the left of the photo. Going along the ridge line from the right to the left notice where the ridge line of the small mountain dips down forming what we call a 'gun sight'. IF you can't see it just pretend you can! You can really see what I mean about the morning mist.
The above misty photo was taken from a point on the beach that is closest to our apartment.
YES! It is a 'bit of a hike' North up the beach to the point where you begin the climb up up and UP to the ridge line.
When Patti and I walk out of our apartment we head due West to the beach at Arambol.
We come out upon the beach at 'our' major land-mark .. The Life Guard Shack.
Below I have walked due West straight out to the surf.
In the sun above and in the gray, foggy, dense morning mist below!
I now (below) turn 90-Degrees to my right and face due North. The Life Guard Shack is 90-Degrees to my right. You now have a second opportunity to find The Cross just left of the 'gun sight'.
Several closer views of The Cross as viewed from the very North end the beach.
A good many of the photographs at the beginning of this Post are grey and foggy because of the cool morning-mist from the ocean.
Yours truly makes it a point to climb up this small mountain in the very early morning before the searing scorching sun appears.
Back to our ridge line below. The photographs that follow this photo are taken from the peak of the West (the left) end of the ridge line. Notice that the peak is somewhat higher in elevation than that of The Cross on the right.
Arambol Beach Goa in the morning mist.
Already the morning sun is beginning to 'burn-off ' the morning mist!
The below photos were taken looking down upon the extreme Northern end of the main part of Arambol Beach. Focus on the pronounced jagged rock formation below.
OK Bright-Eyes! I shot these two photos climbing down from the peak. The sun was already up and blazing away. Once I am on the peak I do not rush down. THAT (getting down) is easy walking.
Now I will show you what this jagged rock formation at the North end of Arambol Beach looks like down-on-the-ground.
In the below photos .. At the extreme left of lands-end you can see the pronounced jagged rock formation I have just shown in the photos above.
This sports fans is what happens when you shoot several hundred (let's say 300) photos of Arambol Beach. Some are taken in the sunshine with those clear blue skies and others are taken in the damp morning fog. When it came time to show you The Beach at Arambol I have posted the photos that show you what I want to show you. Be it in the sunshine or in the morning fog.
I solemnly wonder IF in this lifetime of mine I will ever keep a running written record of the photos (each are numbered by my camera) as I upload them. Then when dealing with several hundred photos I will KNOW which I have uploaded and posted and I will totally avoid the issue of .. "Hum-m-m have I uploaded and posted this photo?"
Why all of the photos of the jagged rock formation?
Because IT defines the North end of Arambol Beach.
I would be sad if you ever went to Arambol Beach without seeing these photos of the jagged rocks and asked the world ..
"Just look at the jagged rock formation up there at the North end of the beach. Why didn't our Captain alert us to this land mark!"
Because this IS a program of honesty I feel absolutely compelled to announce to all of you that Patti did NOT accompany me on my early morning beach walks nor others to the extreme North end of the beach. From the apartment back to the apartment is a good three and one half hours (3-l/2) of hiking.
"Hello my Queen!"
Now I am going to take you all for a walk past the jagged rocks and to a completely separate beach North of the main beach at Arambol.
Many hikers go right out to the rocks.
We are walking North up the coast from Arambol Beach proper. The small white house in the photos below is such a land mark on this walk North.
Now we are up-close to the small white house.
Isn't this (above and below) home-on-the-ocean wonderful!
A nice little restaurant that I like to and I DO stop at for-a-break.
Stunning! Absolutely Stunning!
Climbing around and over these rocks can be quite an adventure.
"Oh Captain Oh Captain! We now see why you love the beach at Arambol!"
Kind fellow-travelers like you see in the white shirt in the below photo snapped the photos-of-me you have seen above.
After the above stunning, magnificent, phenomenal (AND YES INDEED SOMEWHAT CHALLENGING) walk we come to another totally and different beach from the 'main' beach at Arambol.
There she is! What many call 'The Hidden Beach'. Its official name is Kalacha Beach.
At 'Hidden Beach' is a small enclave of tourist facilities.
Let me try to make this simple.
Above you have another beach. This beach is North of and up-and-over the small mountain at the North end of the main beach at Arambol that you see in the below photo.
When I got to the beach I showed you above .. I climbed up (and from the North side the climb up is somewhat difficult) the North side of the small mountain above located at the North end of Arambol Beach.
"Aw-w-w you climbed up just for us Captain?"
"It's what I do!"
Here we go loop de loop .. Here we go loop de li .. Up the North side of the small mountain.
Well what have we just ahead of us below? Scrutinize the below photo for a moment. Just up the stone steps.
"Hello trouble! How in the world you been?" Buck Owens ..
"Well Thanks! How kind of you Guys! That IS mellow! But I think that I will-pass on a hit from your toke!" ..
"One toke over the line Sweet Jesus! One toke over the line! Sittin' downtown in a railway station .. One toke over the line!"
Brewer and Shipley .. circa 1970 ..
One day we were pretty much stoned and all and Tom says, “Man, I’m one toke over the line tonight.” I liked the way that sounded and so I wrote a song around it.
"Lord God Captain! What on this good earth are we going to do with you Captain!"
"Mind IF I snap a shot of you guys?" ..
"Why not our man! We are all .. One Toke Over The Line!"
And the Dinkey Bird is singing in the Amfalula Tree!
"Am I the luckiest man in this world?"
My Bi-Polar body is producing free-of-charge all the chemicals I need to get One Toke Over The Line without having to be in the social structure most of the rest of the guys need and are in.
"Captain! Dot.Net is a bad influence on you Captain!" /signed/ Miss Blogspot ..
What a hike. I your Captain MUST start out in the early, foggy, misty, cool morning to survive this three and a half (3-1/2) hour minimum trek.
Man-O-Manischewitz we are finally up there!
Looking down on 'Hidden' or Kalacha Beach.
Man-O-Manischewitz! I have got to stop again and catch-my-breath!
Looking down on what a lot of locals call 'hidden' lake. Its official name is Vagkolam Lake but it is more commonly called Sweet Water Lake. It is a fresh water lake.
The four photos below look into the entrance of the beautiful Sweet Water or Hidden or Vagkolam lake you see above. These were snapped at sea level.
Now we are again back up on the hill and looking down upon Kalacha beach.
While we are 'up here' the below photos show you a closer look at the Northern end of Kalacha beach you are looking down at above.
"Captain! Someday! One day! I want to go to Arambol and explore the beach!"
"If indeed you do I thank you for allowing me to introduce Arambol and The Beach to you in this post!"
This is but the first of photos of The Beach. Next I will show you the Southern part of The Beach.
WOW CAPTAIN!
I could go on further BUT perhaps enough-is-enough. I feel that the time has come the Walrus said to gently but firmly press Publish .. And so I shall ..

It is precious that you let your "queen" relax and read on the bed in the courtyard of our apartment while you walk and hike to get these superb photos ... great shots ... wonderful to see the sights in all of its moods and lighting: misty, sunny, rocky, from heights, from the beach level. Wonderful to be 'on your tour'! Smiles. Love. Patti
ReplyDeleteMy Dear Queen! How nice to have had you along with me in spirit if not in the physical body. Oh Yes there is no question that you would not have been comfortable on the trek. Three and a half hours is a push and once the sun arises climbing the trails is a challenge. Actually you would have been in physical danger from a terrible fall on many parts of the trek! It is not in any sense of the word 'child's play ' .. Much Love ..
DeleteNice scenery! Nice beaches. Enjoyed the tour.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pleasure to have had you along on the tour. So happy you enjoyed it. I know that I myself enjoyed it. As you no doubt realize the post included photos from several treks. I personally cannot get-it-all on one go around.
DeleteI've never known anyone as thorough as you. You don't miss any angle in your picture-taking.
ReplyDeleteI often get carried away with the number of photos I take when I'm on an "adventure" (meager as mine are). I feel like a slacker compared to you! Actually, I feel relief that you go way beyond my photo excesses. Thank you for that. I'm not being critical of your ways. I'm in awe that you can manage your thousand of photo.
And always, your sense of humor is splendid. It's obvious that you have a blast and multiply your joy with all of your posts.
I voted today. Pray for the world. All of the candidates pose risks. I reckon that's life.
Smiling your way,
Shaddy
Thank You Shaddy. I don't know .. your trip up the inside passage in Alaska sure indicated to me that you also snap your-fair-share of photos especially of the glaciers. Now THAT TOO was quite the adventure Shaddy. You never know which ones are going to turn-out. You never get a second chance either. So it best to snap snap snap away with photos. Then when you come home with this vast array of photos comes the challenge of which ones to post. That is a difficult place-to-go .. the 'which do I post' challenge.
ReplyDeleteI DO have fun and I DO enjoy all of this and I DO treasure my time doing what I am doing KNOWING the time will arrive when it comes to a conclusion.
Smiling Back as Spring springs for you all in Wisconsin .. Cap ..
