To begin this Post, if you want to look at some maps that will orient you to the Riverwalk, by clicking onto the below link, you will go to my DOT.net website where I have posted a number of maps showing the Riverwalk and how it is configured.

While over on DOT.net, look for the map that shows the PEDAL BOAT ZONE.

HISTORIC ARKANSAS

RIVERWALK OF PUEBLO

On my way to visit the magnificent Pueblo Railway Museum here in Pueblo the other day..

Hello There Mister Big Steam Locomotive!

A older, original AMTRAK coach.

I've heard of aircraft simulators but never a locomotive simulator.

Anyhow, as I was driving down Victoria Avenue..

I casually looked off to my right and I saw an area of the Riverwalk that I did not even know existed!

LAKE ELIZABETH

THE RIVERWALK PEDAL BOAT ZONE

Note the 'official Riverwalk logo' in the bottom left corner of the sign above.

If you were to stand on the below South Victoria Avenue Bridge
by the Riverwalk sign, then turn around and cross the street, the third photo below shows what you will see.

Here you see the uppermost end of the main area of the Riverwalk as viewed from the Victoria Avenue bridge.

It rained 'cats and dogs and hail' about two hours after I snapped the above photo.

Luckily for me, when the rain and hail storm hit Pueblo, I was inside of a B-29 Super Fortress ..

Out at the Pueblo Air Museum.

I wonder how many of you think that all I do is sit around pondering what-to-do?

Back we are NOW GOING TO GO explore the PEDAL BOAT ZONE of the Riverwalk.

I snapped the below photo standing on Victoria Avenue looking out toward Lake Elizabeth, the name of the pedal boat's lake.

Lake Elizabeth is absolutely beautiful!

There is a very nice area for large groups to have picnics under an overhead roof.

"Pedal Boats? Where Oh Where Captain are the Pedal Boats?"

Notice the large covered pavilion above and below available for group picnics.

"OK Captain! Enough of idyllic photos! Let's rock a pedal boat or two."

This very small shed has a business side facing Lake Elizabeth.

Pick out your favorite pedal boat.

I was actually going to rent a pedal boat.

I asked a most pleasant young lady at the pedal boat rental shed IF the pedal boats were difficult to pedal. She kind of sort of hemmed and hawed and finally said to me that the animal boats were easiest to pedal. I was going to pedal off in a White Swan THEN sanity returned. After a very bad crisis just a few days ago with my right knee not to mention my left hip ! Oh Captain think about this.

For by this time sanity returned.

Healing from hip surgery. I had a bad knee crisis this week.

I think NOT !

The grandparents maybe?

Now we will walk to the upper end of Lake Elizabeth.

St. Francis and his love for animals.

Memorial Benches honoring loved ones.

We are now back at the head of Lake Elizabeth.

Love and Hope Bloom Eternal.

It is my most sincere wish that, in viewing this Post, you gain a feeling for how very nice the Riverwalk is. Truly it really is something very special.

With Joy .. Cap

  1. If anyone following your posts thinks you sit around wondering what to do with yourself, they are not paying attention!! The Railroad Museum, the B-29 Super Fortress at the Pueblo Air Museum, and the Pedal Boat Zone at the Riverwalk denote one who does not sit around twiddling your thumbs. If I were to have picked a Pedal Boat, it would have been the large white swan, but I would have no business in one of those either with my hip, ankle and back issues ... SO glad "sanity returned" and you passed on active participation in that attraction. Cudos to Pueblo once again for their memorial benches. Sweet. Love, Patti
