I have now been here in the city of Irkutsk, located in the Southeastern part of Russian Siberia, for one full week. Because I am fortunate to be driven around Irkutsk in private automobiles, I have seen quite a few parts of the city.
Without any unnecessary fan-fare, I am going to post some random photos that I have snapped during my comings and my goings for the past seven days.
IRKUTSK, RUSSIAN SIBERIA
To begin with, the following photos show you what the English name of Irkutsk looks like in its proper native Russian language.
At the Irkutsk Airport upon arrival.
At the Irkutsk Railway Station.
Since we are here at the railway station showing you what the word Irkutsk looks like in Russian, I'll slip in a few photos of this absolutely magnificent historic railway station.
Wow huh?
While driving into Irkutsk on the roadway.
While just walking down a city street.
ИРКУТСК is everywhere here in IRKUTSK.
This Russian cyrillic word : ИРКУТСК
Will never in my lifetime look like this word : IRKUTSK
So far, each and every single time I see ИРКУТСК, I have to spell-it-out and realize it is saying IRKUTSK.
And?
And this constant mental stimulation is exactly and precisely why I love being in foreign countries.
On we go with some totally random photos of Irkutsk (oops .. ИРКУТСК )
First off, a quick lunch-stop.
Much better. Now we are out and off for some random ИРКУТСК photos.
This will be it for Part 1 of what became a 3-part series of posting random photos of Irkutsk.
Instead of posting fifty or sixty or even more photos in one post, for-a-change, I'm going to 'pace myself '.
"Pace yourself Captain? You've got to be kidding all of us."
More photos to follow and you can 'bet-on-it'.
Smiles, Cap

Fun to see the pictures as you cruise through Irkutsk during your first week there. The Railway Station is magnificent! Irkutsk (a little over 600,000 population) looks inviting. Welcome to settling in ... Love, Patti
