Many of you may very well ask, "What on Earth is a Deuce Show?"
A Deuce Show is a display of "Deuce Coupes."
O.K. Captain !! "What is a Deuce Coupe?"
Thanks to our friends at Wikipedia and elsewhere-on-line, below is some information as to what a Deuce Coupe is.
The name "Deuce Coupe" is shorthand slang for the 1932 Ford Model 18 with the side-valve flathead V-8 engine. The Model B (also available in coupe form) was the designation for the 1932 Ford inline-four model.
The Ford Motor Company was the first manufacturer to offer a low-cost V-8 engine in a mass-produced car—the 1932 Ford Model 18, which sold for as little as $460.
The Deuce Coupe '32 Ford was favored by early hot rodders for its low cost, ubiquity (the fact of appearing everywhere or of being very common) and powerful V-8 engine, spawned the hot-rodding aftermarket.
The term "Deuce Coupe" burst onto the pop culture scene in 1963 with the Beach Boys B-side hit, "Little Deuce Coupe." The Deuce Coupe would gain further fame as the mechanical star of George Lucas' 1973 cult smash hit, American Graffiti.
Although many of the era's body styles look very similar, the bodywork of the 1932 Ford Model 18 is unique to that model year and can be easily distinguished by its grille and radiator shell.
There were 14 body styles of 1932 Fords, including two coupes: the three-window and the five-window.
The side-valve V-8 flathead Ford engine in the 1932 Model 18 displaced 221 cubic inches and produced 65 horsepower. Later, more powerful versions of the flathead V-8 in 239ci, 255ci, and 337ci form, designed for Mercury and Lincoln cars and Ford trucks, were popular deuce coupe swaps with hot rodders.
Below is a Wikipedia link just in case you'd like to explore the topic of hot rodding a bit more.
Got it Sports Fans, Ladies and Gentlemen, and our loyal followers?
The time has come the Walrus said to get on with the getting on.
By the way when I was a member of the "Pit Crew" for the stock car racing driver Richard Petty, this was a favorite term Richard would use as the clock was ticking down for a NASCAR race to begin.
He would say : "Let's get on with the getting on!"

Here we go to The Rotary Park in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
I don't have to tell you how beautiful The Rotary Park is, the below photographs speak for themselves!
On we go deeper into Rotary Park.
We have reached the Sports Fields, upon which the Deuce Coupes are on display.
Panning from the left to the right. The Sports Fields are very large.
As you look at the below photographs, it is difficult to believe you are looking out over the same field!
Off to our right and behind us is a very pleasant playground for the children.
Here we go loop de loop, here we go loop de li .. Have a look at a few Deuce Coupes and Street Rods.
The first two photos show The Penultimate Deuce Coupe!
Now we will "branch out" into the broad overall category of "Street Rods".
Captain what on earth is a "Street Rod"?
Happy you asked : By definition, a Street Rod is an automobile of 1948 or earlier manufacture that has undergone some type of modernization to engine, transmission, interior refinements or any other modifications the builder desires.
To quote our friend and ally "Zilla", a born and raised native Californian, and a friend and an Ally since October 1975 .. "Cap, a Street Rod is a "nifty" old car!"
Thanks "Zilla" .
Get it? Got it? Good!
Back to the traditional Deuce Coupes.
That will "do it" for Part 1 of the THE DEUCE SHOW 2023 here in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
Cap and Patti
I imagine that all of you realize that I do the majority of the work to publish a Post. I snap all of the photos, do 98% of the writing, and deal with the challenges of WiFi and many of the IT issues and challenges that this website involves. BUT Patti is invaluable as my proof reader, consultant and supporter. In this Post, to get the first eighteen (18) photos leading into Rotary Park, Patti was driving as I was in the truck, out of the truck, walking all over the place to snap the first photos of this Post while Patti patiently "double parked" and moved our truck around behind and around me.
Patti YOU ARE INDEED THE WIND BENEATH MY WINGS! So one great THANK YOU MY DEAREST PATTI FOR ALL YOU DO BEHIND THE SCENES. Love Cap

ReplyDeleteYou said it Kit. Some sweet rides. Yes indeed Kit, I made the "Big Time". Prior to working for, and with "King Richard Petty", I worked on a factory Ford Team with Parnelli Jones being our driver. Also I was with Pete Hamilton in 1969. Then Pete left that team and won the Daytona 500 in 1970. And more much more. I didn't know you knew about NASCAR Kit. Smiling .. Cap
