OCT 29, 14 .. NIAGARA FALLS .. THE SKYLON TOWER ..

THE SKYLON TOWER ..
I hate to tease you all .. But Patti and I are on-the-run jumping-through-hoops .. and I don't have the time to do this Post the justice it deserves.  BUT I can and so I will Post just a small teaser here .. and trust-me .. I will return and enlarge this Post when I am able!

Looking across the Niagara River from the United States side of the Niagara Falls .. the tall tower on the right side of the above photo is the .. SKYLON TOWER.

The Skylon Tower stands out as a major landmark of the entire Niagara Falls Park area.

Looking up from the base of the Skylon Tower.

Patti and I took a deep breath .. and .. UP WE TWO WENT!

Above you see a photo of the CANADIAN HORSESHOE FALLS from ground level.

Below you see a photo taken looking-down from the Skylon Tower.

For now .. that is all I have time to Post.  I will enlarge this Post when I am able.

Smiles from Patti and from Cap ..

OCT 26, 14 .. NEW HAMPSHIRE COASTLINE ..

New Hampshire (NH) is one of the states in the extreme Northeast Region of the United States of American commonly known as New England.  New Hampshire .. located between Maine on the north and Massachusetts on the south .. is a relatively small state being 46th out of the 50 United States in terms of area.

New Hampshire has a very small section of coastline (where land meets water) or seacoast. The NH seacoast on the Atlantic Ocean is approximately 18-miles (30 Km) in length.

The photos below were taken as Patti and I drove north along the Atlantic Seacoast on Highway 1A between Hampton Beach and Rye.

To put it mildly! .. in comparison with the sandy beach of Hampton Beach .. this particular section of the NH seacoast would be considered 'somewhat barren, rocky and very rugged'.

If you look very closely at the two photos above and at the two photos below .. you can see that on the left side of each photo .. there are homes facing the Atlantic Ocean.

"Homes Captain?  Did you just write homes facing the ocean?"

"You are calling these huge MANSIONS mere homes?"

Below is the above home as viewed from a distance .. you can see how these 'homes' overlook the rocky seacoast.

Patti sat in Black Beauty as I snapped photos!

Homes?  How about a French Chateau !

What did Marie Antoinette say? ..  "Let the peasants who are hungry eat cake!"

I have been to the French countryside and these Chateaux (the plural of the singular Chateau) match many that I saw in France!

Evidently .. and I am assuming this .. we were in an area called .. Little Boar's Head .. and the sign below meant .. French Poodles not mere dogs! .. giggle .. giggle .. giggle ..

A 'rhetorical question' is a question that does not require and answer nor a response.

Patti asked me the following 'rhetorical question' ..

"Do you think that these homes are summer homes?"

I will close wondering what their permanent homes look like!

Smiles  ..  Patti and Cap ..

OCT 24, 14 .. NIAGARA FALLS .. PART IV ..

I never know who will be reading along here with me.  Perhaps you are new-to-blogging and you are saying to yourself .. "I could NEVER do a website or a Blog!"  Rest assured that IF at age 78 .. I can do this .. so too can you!  So to encourage you .. Below I share my process each and every time I begin a Post.  Here we go.

IF YOU BUILD IT .. THEY WILL COME ..
Taken from the GREAT do-not-miss Movie .. FIELD OF DREAMS ..  Just clear the ground and build your baseball field and the players WILL find you and come!  Trust the process!

My Adaptation ..

First Captain .. just open up the dashboard for your website here at your computer even you can at least do this! .. Now just begin to write some text which I am doing! .. Now using its USB cable connect your camera to your computer and load photos into your computer from your camera .. Forget the fact you are looking at several hundred photographs that you could not stop yourself from snapping KNOWING as you were snapping-away your day-of-reckoning would come when you would have to account for your actions KNOWING how frustrating it was going to be trying to decide how to fit the photos into a Post .. SO  just .. THROW UP a photo and ..

A POST WILL HAPPEN !

Niagara Falls is actually two water falls.  The AMERICAN FALLS and the CANADIAN HORSESHOE FALLS.

The CANADIAN HORSESHOE FALLS are the Falls depicted in the top center of the below orientation sign.

The AMERICAN FALLS are the Falls that you see depicted in the lower left of the sign.

Although this post will DEAL PRIMARILY WITH THE AMERICAN FALLS .. I will be showing and mentioning the CANADIAN HORSESHOE FALLS as we go along here.

Find the Red Star on the sign below.

To assist you as I post photos of the AMERICAN FALLS I may show the above photo again.

The below four photos of the AMERICAN FALLS were taken from the Canadian side of the Niagara River. The Red Star on the sign above would be a fair approximation of my location when I snapped the four photos below.

Since you may have seen my two earlier posts of Niagara
Falls .. below is a photo to refresh-your-memory of the CANADIAN HORSESHOE FALLS.

Downstream from the AMERICAN FALLS .. is the Rainbow Bridge.  Please notice the green tower to the right of the bridge and a ferry boat in the river near the tower.

This green tower is an elevator shaft.  It is located on the United States side of the Niagara River.  The elevator transports visitors up and down so that they may ride on any one of a number of ferry boats each called .. The Maid Of The Mist.

There actually are two companies running ferry boats up and down the Niagara River to view the Falls.  Further below I show photos of the second company's boats.

'Zilla I was not willing to pay-good-money to go for a ride up to the base of the Falls and risk getting absolutely soaking wet so I could post some up-close photos of the ferries.  So these photos-of-photos will just have to suffice for now!

By-the-way .. each of the above photos of the Falls also show a Maid Of The Mist ferry boat.

"Hi everyone!  I am Maid Of The Mist VI!"

Back to the green elevator tower on the United States side of the Niagara River.

Not only is it a 'landmark' .. but it also provides a viewing platform .. upon which visitors may walk out and shoot photos from far above the Niagara River.

Patti enjoying a view of the Niagara River and the American Falls from the elevator shaft viewing platform.

Several more photos of the AMERICAN FALLS as viewed from the Canadian side of the Niagara River looking across towards the United States.

How can you miss the ever-present green elevator shaft that adjoins the American Falls?

Now I am going to take you all to the American side of the Niagara River to show you what the AMERICAN FALLS look like as viewed from the United States side of the Niagara River.

In the far distance in the above photo are the Canadian Horseshoe Falls.  Immediately in front of us are the AMERICAN FALLS!  If you were very VERY careful you could almost reach-out-and-touch the water!

Can you feel the power of the Niagara River as it plunges down over the lip of the falls?

In addition to showing you all some more Autumn beauty .. the above photo looks at the Niagara River upstream from the AMERICAN FALLS

Over-we-all-go says the rushing water!  See the Skylon Tower over on the Canadian side of the Niagara River to the right above.

Now some photos of the AMERICAN FALLS as viewed from the elevator-tower viewing platform.

Can you see Patti's head visible along the railing on the left side of the above photo?  Directly ahead of you above is the entrance to the elevators taking visitors down to ride a ferry to view the falls up-close!

Here one comes chugging downstream aiming for her dock below us.

The ferry boats in these photos belong to the second ferry boat company.  These are NOT Maids Of The Mist boats.

The beautiful Rainbow Bridge.

"What's that 'Zilla?" .. "Yes indeed my friend.  The above photo was taken on a cloudy day and  the below was taken on a bright sunny day! What a difference a day can make!"

The bridge looks like it is a painting!

The below photos of the AMERICAN FALLS were taken from the elevator-tower viewing platform.

These (above and below) two photos were taken from the same location but with different camera lens settings.

Above the CANADIAN HORSESHOE FALLS .. with their ever-present tower-of-water-mist are visible in the background.

Again .. above you can clearly see the CANADIAN HORSESHOE FALLS in the background.

As I walked away from the AMERICAN FALLS .. not knowing when .. IF ever .. we will return .. I snapped another photo of the elevator tower and its magnificent viewing platform.

And more .. ever more .. Autumn-colors photos.

I cannot possibly over-emphasize the beauty of the entire Niagara Falls Park area.

Now I have returned to the Canadian side of the Niagara River for a last look at the Rainbow Bridge.

THANKS BE TO YOU .. Oh Lord God of Abraham .. Creator of our Planet Earth and of the entire Universe .. I stand .. humbled by your beauty!

Patti thanks you God for the wind-she-so-loves!

WITH JOY .. Cap and Patti ..

And I mean .. WITH JOY !
