I never know who will be reading along here with me. Perhaps you are new-to-blogging and you are saying to yourself .. "I could NEVER do a website or a Blog!" Rest assured that IF at age 78 .. I can do this .. so too can you! So to encourage you .. Below I share my process each and every time I begin a Post. Here we go.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Ah Yes .. To get started here today I need-a-saying ..
The CANADIAN HORSESHOE FALLS are the Falls depicted in the top center of the below orientation sign.
The AMERICAN FALLS are the Falls that you see depicted in the lower left of the sign.
Although this post will DEAL PRIMARILY WITH THE AMERICAN FALLS .. I will be showing and mentioning the CANADIAN HORSESHOE FALLS as we go along here.
Find the Red Star on the sign below.
To assist you as I post photos of the AMERICAN FALLS I may show the above photo again.
The below four photos of the AMERICAN FALLS were taken from the Canadian side of the Niagara River. The Red Star on the sign above would be a fair approximation of my location when I snapped the four photos below.
Since you may have seen my two earlier posts of Niagara
Falls .. below is a photo to refresh-your-memory of the CANADIAN HORSESHOE FALLS.
Downstream from the AMERICAN FALLS .. is the Rainbow Bridge. Please notice the green tower to the right of the bridge and a ferry boat in the river near the tower.
This green tower is an elevator shaft. It is located on the United States side of the Niagara River. The elevator transports visitors up and down so that they may ride on any one of a number of ferry boats each called .. The Maid Of The Mist.
There actually are two companies running ferry boats up and down the Niagara River to view the Falls. Further below I show photos of the second company's boats.
'Zilla I was not willing to pay-good-money to go for a ride up to the base of the Falls and risk getting absolutely soaking wet so I could post some up-close photos of the ferries. So these photos-of-photos will just have to suffice for now!
By-the-way .. each of the above photos of the Falls also show a Maid Of The Mist ferry boat.
"Hi everyone! I am Maid Of The Mist VI!"
Back to the green elevator tower on the United States side of the Niagara River.
Not only is it a 'landmark' .. but it also provides a viewing platform .. upon which visitors may walk out and shoot photos from far above the Niagara River.
Patti enjoying a view of the Niagara River and the American Falls from the elevator shaft viewing platform.
Several more photos of the AMERICAN FALLS as viewed from the Canadian side of the Niagara River looking across towards the United States.
How can you miss the ever-present green elevator shaft that adjoins the American Falls?
Now I am going to take you all to the American side of the Niagara River to show you what the AMERICAN FALLS look like as viewed from the United States side of the Niagara River.
In the far distance in the above photo are the Canadian Horseshoe Falls. Immediately in front of us are the AMERICAN FALLS! If you were very VERY careful you could almost reach-out-and-touch the water!
Can you feel the power of the Niagara River as it plunges down over the lip of the falls?
In addition to showing you all some more Autumn beauty .. the above photo looks at the Niagara River upstream from the AMERICAN FALLS.
Over-we-all-go says the rushing water! See the Skylon Tower over on the Canadian side of the Niagara River to the right above.
Now some photos of the AMERICAN FALLS as viewed from the elevator-tower viewing platform.
Can you see Patti's head visible along the railing on the left side of the above photo? Directly ahead of you above is the entrance to the elevators taking visitors down to ride a ferry to view the falls up-close!
Here one comes chugging downstream aiming for her dock below us.
The ferry boats in these photos belong to the second ferry boat company. These are NOT Maids Of The Mist boats.
The beautiful Rainbow Bridge.
"What's that 'Zilla?" .. "Yes indeed my friend. The above photo was taken on a cloudy day and the below was taken on a bright sunny day! What a difference a day can make!"
The bridge looks like it is a painting!
The below photos of the AMERICAN FALLS were taken from the elevator-tower viewing platform.
These (above and below) two photos were taken from the same location but with different camera lens settings.
Above the CANADIAN HORSESHOE FALLS .. with their ever-present tower-of-water-mist are visible in the background.
Again .. above you can clearly see the CANADIAN HORSESHOE FALLS in the background.
As I walked away from the AMERICAN FALLS .. not knowing when .. IF ever .. we will return .. I snapped another photo of the elevator tower and its magnificent viewing platform.
And more .. ever more .. Autumn-colors photos.
I cannot possibly over-emphasize the beauty of the entire Niagara Falls Park area.
Now I have returned to the Canadian side of the Niagara River for a last look at the Rainbow Bridge.
THANKS BE TO YOU .. Oh Lord God of Abraham .. Creator of our Planet Earth and of the entire Universe .. I stand .. humbled by your beauty!
Patti thanks you God for the wind-she-so-loves!
WITH JOY .. Cap and Patti ..
And I mean .. WITH JOY !

Ah Yes .. To get started here today I need-a-saying ..
IF YOU BUILD IT .. THEY WILL COME ..
Taken from the GREAT do-not-miss Movie .. FIELD OF DREAMS .. Just clear the ground and build your baseball field and the players WILL find you and come! Trust the process!
My Adaptation ..
First Captain .. just open up the dashboard for your website here at your computer even you can at least do this! .. Now just begin to write some text which I am doing! .. Now using its USB cable connect your camera to your computer and load photos into your computer from your camera .. Forget the fact you are looking at several hundred photographs that you could not stop yourself from snapping KNOWING as you were snapping-away your day-of-reckoning would come when you would have to account for your actions KNOWING how frustrating it was going to be trying to decide how to fit the photos into a Post .. SO just .. THROW UP a photo and ..
A POST WILL HAPPEN !

Nice photos, Cap. I repeat: Sure has changed since I was there in 1973.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliment. It is a matter of .. point the camera and squeeze the button and out come nice photos! What a photogenic place Niagara Falls Park is.
DeleteYour sense of joy and humor are something I truly appreciate. Besides that, you can write and take fabulous photos. What more could a person want????
ReplyDeleteI know what it's like to have an excess of photos of one theme. If one picture iss good, well then one hundred is better!! That's fine until it's time to share them with others who are pressed for time!!! :) :) :) You are very thorough and I think that is admirable as well.
The falls from Canada and the U.S., your autumn appreciation photos and of course your pictures of Patti are splendid.
Smiles all around,
Shaddy
