JUL 27, 15 .. ULAANBAATAR .. THE CHINGGIS KHAAN MUSEUM ..

On the outskirts of Mongolia's capital city Ulaanbaatar .. or if you prefer another common spelling .. Ulaan Baatar or even 'UB' or even Ulan Bator  .. is a museum dedicated to Chinggis Khaan and his descendant rulers.

It's truly a very nice place to visit.

HORSE TALK .. "WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THAT HORSE UP THERE?"

Horses played a key and vital role in the conquering of nations by the Mongolian warriors. Horses are still very popular and are extremely common to see in the Mongolian countryside.

Did I catch three colts close to mom in the below photo! Maybe a fourth out there by itself.

WAIT A MINUTE HERE !!

YOU MAY THINK YOU'RE A HORSE ..
A HORSE YOU'RE NOT!! OINK .. OINK ..

The Mongolian Airlines famous 'Flying Horse' ..

OH COME ON!

YOU GUYS AREN'T HORSES EITHER!
I THINK YOU'RE YAKS!

Below are artistic examples of Mongolian warriors and their horses.

The above six photos were taken at the entrance monument to the city of Sukhbaatar North of Ulaanbaatar that I just visited July 24th to 26th.

Look at the nine letter name above. How do the Mongolians get SUKH from CYX in the first three letters? ..

The last six characters of the above nine letter word are my 'altered' number 5 .. which is the Mongolian letter B ..

This is Building Number 7B ..

plus AATAP .. are literally BAATAR.

WHERE WAS I GOING WITH THIS POST  .. GOT IT .. I JUST WORKED IN A BUNCH OF HORSE PHOTOS THAT I HAD NO IDEA WHERE I WAS GOING TO PUT THEM ..

Back to the Chinggis Khaan Museum.

Put on your reading glasses. In the following two photos .. if you will look closely at the horses mane especially above his ears in the first photo .. the small specs you see are people.

These people are up on an aerial viewing area above the mane of the horse. Below I see four people up there.

To gain access to this viewing area where you can look down on the countryside .. or look up at Chinggis Khaan .. inside of the museum is a passageway up to this viewing area.

Looking down from the aerial viewing area.

I am not sure what the below Gers are used for.

This aerial viewing area allows you to get an up-close-and-personal photo of Chinggis Khaan.

This is a man that I personally would not want to incur his wrath!

Study the above photos of this fearsome appearing Chinggis Khaan. Below is a photo of him in which he appears somewhat less than fearsome.

Notice the distinctive patch of hair on his upper forehead. You see this in the previous photos of him on his horse as well as on the foreheads of most all of his important descendants that I show further below.

Inside of the museum are three floors. The main floor .. a second floor and the basement.

When I entered the museum .. I did not first explore the main floor. Instead I immediately went to the outside aerial viewing area up on the mane of Chinggis Khaan's horse which I have shown you previously.

As I walked down the stairs from the aerial viewing area I arrived at the second floor of the museum.

On the walls of this the second floor as well as on the walls of the main floor and the basement are portraits of Chinggis Khaan and his important descendants with a short writing about each of them.

Nice .. Very nice .. Spotless .. Attractive ..

In the below two photos you can see a portion the main floor.

The below photo was taken on the main floor. As on the second floor you can note the photos of Chinggis Khaan and his descendants on the walls.

Note the distinct patch of hair on their upper foreheads.

But not all of them had this distinctive patch of hair.

Khubilai did not have much hair period!

This is a familiar name to me. I have a friend in Fairbanks Alaska who has a pug named Khubilai after Khubilai Khaan.

A last look at the main floor.

And to finish this visit to the Chinggis Khaan Museum are a few photos of the basement level of the museum.

A dazzling place.

More ever more photos of Chinggis Khaan's important descendants that ruled the Mongolian Empire. I would imagine there were more than a few blood-baths to determine which of his many descendants ascended to the throne of the Mongolian Empire!

Spotless and immaculate.

I made this visit to the Chinggis Khaan Museum on Friday the 17th of July 2015.

This was the same day that I visited the many Gers shown in my Post dated ..

JUL 22, 15 .. THE MONGOLIAN GER OR YURT ..

Friday July the 17th was one busy day! In fact this visit to the museum was shortened because time ran out on an overly full day of visiting some of the sights of Ulaanbaatar!

I hope you enjoyed this visit with Chinggis Khaan.

Smiles .. Cap ..

  1. Great trip through the exquisite Chinggis Khaan Museum ... and I loved getting there through the fields and waterways of the horses, the pig and the yaks! Nice, nice tour ... the museum is ... stunning. Hugs. Patti

  2. Thank You My Dear One .. Yes it is magnificent .. sparkling clean and so pleasant .. The Sukhbaatar Pig was a howl wasn't she. Sassy as sassy can be .. a sow she came right up to me for a hand-out of any kind. Too bad I did not have something for her. Too little time in our schedule to do the museum full honors. Smiles ..
