As we promised, here are a few more 'memory joggers' of our travels in Russian Siberia last year.
Just in case you have not seen parts ONE and TWO, below are links to them.
Part ONE .. http://bobbacaps.blogspot.com/2019/12/dec-31-19-thanks-for-memories-year-2019.html
Part TWO .. http://bobbacaps.blogspot.com/2020/01/jan-3-20-thanks-for-memories-year-2019.html
Our home-away-from-home was in Irkutsk. Part TWO concluded with photos of Irkutsk. We will continue below with more photos of Irkutsk.
I can only speak for myself. To name just three countries that we've traveled in recently, India, Korea, Mongolia, Patti and I do not look like the local indigenous (originating in and characteristic of a particular region or country; native) people.
For nine (count them) months, it absolutely fascinated me, I was constantly thinking, with regard to the local people I was mixing with, we look so much alike.
Some more examples of what I mean.
These are all Russian Siberians!
"Oh for goodness sakes Captain! Of course you look like them. You all have European ancestors!"
To every rule there are exceptions!
Patti and I do not look like the below residents of Russian Siberia.
Can anyone 'out there' reading this tell that I am having a lot of fun here?
What is so much fun here is this: They have wonderful zoos in Russian Siberia and their animals look like our similar animals.
By the way, in Russian Siberia they have some very nice, downright elegant, restaurants.
1,530 Russian Rubles is U.S. $24.64 plus a small gratuity.
"Well My Dearest Patti, did you enjoy our dinner?"
Check out the below 'elegant' Subway Tuna Footlong.
One very elegant, down-to-earth, meal at a hospital treatment center.
In Part TWO of this series of posts, we showed several museums. Below is a Clock Museum that was beyond-the-beyond.
The above amazing Clock Museum had more than clocks on display.
Do they have beauty shops in Russian Siberia for the ladies? Yes indeed! In fact there was one on the ground floor of our apartment building!
In Alaska, especially in the city of Fairbanks located in the interior part of the state, in the wintertime you can see ice sculptures. Oh My! In terms of pure volume, nothing we have in Alaska can even come close to the ice sculptures we saw in Russian Siberia.
THE KINGDOM OF PERMAFROST
ICE SCULPTURES IN YAKUTSK, RUSSIAN SIBERIA.
In Yakutsk there is a small mountain / large hill that has been tunneled into and ice sculptures are available year-around. Below are photos of ice scuptures within The Kingdom of Permafrost.
The entrance.
Into The Kingdom of Permafrost we go.
Below are a few photos of additional ice sculptures in front of a restaurant.
We went into the restaurant for a meal.
Do the Russians, in Russian Siberia, ever ski?
Oh My!
Oh Yes!
The Russians, in Russian Siberia, SKI.
There you have it for Part THREE, Memories from Year 2019.
Part FOUR is next.
