DEC 27, 20 .. SEPTEMBER 2020 (8 of 12) VISIT TO MANLEY HOT SPRINGS, ALASKA

Manley Hot Springs is approximately three miles inland from the Tanana River. For more than you may ever care to know about the Tanana River, please click onto the below link.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanana_River

Suffice it to say that the Tanana River is a large and mighty river.

Now we will drive out to the Tanana River.

We begin our drive at our local Post Office.

And out the Elliott Highway we head for the Tanana River.

The Tanana River is the end of the Elliott Highway that begins in Fairanks and that takes us to Manley Hot Springs.

Our first look at the Tanan
a River.

The Tanana River. When we say the Tanana River is a mighty and a significant river, now you can see what we mean.

Standing at the above bench panning left to right.

Different light and exposure, again panning left to right.

No! Winter is NOT here (yet!) but it will soon be coming.

This is a 'fish wheel' that can be used to harvest fish swimming up and down the river. In my 22 years here, it has never moved, not even one small inch. BUT it sure is a landmark.

Below is a boat launching ramp. YES indeed! It is used.

Behind us is a large parking area with a rest room.

Below we look out at the parking area.

You can see by the vehicle population that this is a popular recreation site.

Below, in the distance you can see the rest room.

I haven't 'a clue' who maintains this facility BUT they sure do a great job. It is spotless.

A few 'winter' shots.

What a day we had visiting the Tanana River. But the time had come to motor back to our cabin.

Have a chuckle at the below sign.

And we end our drive at our local Post Office.

We hope you enjoyed our drive on a nice Autumn September afternoon.
