JAN 9, 23 (1/3) .. A ROAD TRIP FROM LAUGHLIN, NEVADA, UP TO SEARCHLIGHT, NEVADA

 Isn't it interesting how a very ordinary place can come to have a very special meaning? Beauty truly is in the eyes of the beholder!

Searchlight, Nevada. Huh? Do you all see Searchlight in the below link, sitting all by its lonely self on U.S. Hwy 95 in the barren desert of Nevada, South of Las Vegas and North of the Laughlin, Nevada / Bullhead City, Arizona, area.

"Huh !"

Below are three reasons Searchlight, Nevada, holds its special place in our hearts.

First. When Patti and I fly from Anchorage, Alaska, to Las Vegas, Nevada, Detroit Tiger Tom meets us at the Las Vegas Airport. Tom then drives us, passing through Searchlight, to Laughlin, Nevada, where we settle in at the Edgewater Hotel for a few days before going South to Phoenix, Arizona and the Mayo Clinic. When we fly home to Anchorage, Tom drives us North to Las Vegas and we pass through Searchlight again.

Coming from Anchorage, we always (there are no other options) pass through Searchlight and stop to stretch and maybe grab a bite to eat after our long flight from Anchorage. It is a welcome oasis in the Nevada desert. Going home we again enjoy a short rest on our way North. Having never really stopped to get-to-know Searchlight, we looked forward to this visit because of reasons 2 and 3 below.

Second. Our friend Michael in Lake Havasu City has told us many times about a famous recovery meeting on Wednesday evenings in Searchlight. However, we have never visited this meeting. So for several years we have wanted to visit this meeting.

Third. Our GMC Suburban was stolen on Christmas Eve Day, December 24th 2021. It was found and recovered in the Searchlight, Nevada, area at Cottonwood Cove on the Colorado River.

For the past year, I have been wanting to see exactly where Black Beauty was located when the Police found, and recovered, him.
