Welcome back to Part 4 of this series of Posts covering our local Hot Air Balloon Festival and Fair.
We know not all of you follow us daily. Below is a link to Part 3, our previous Post, just in case you would like to review it.

In Part 3 we explained that, in spite of relatively good (read low) wind speeds, the Hot Air Balloon pilots opted to not fly yesterday.

As you can see in the two below images, today, Saturday the 11th of January, I stress in the morning before 12 noon, we also had excellent, low to moderate wind speeds, just perfect flying conditions.
After 12 noon the wind picked up speed and no balloons flew for the rest of today.
As I stepped out of the Volunteer Headquarters, way out in the distance was the first Hot Air Balloon that I have seen this year.
So out and off I went, realizing that The Hot Air Balloons were flying. I wanted to see more of them, knowing with our tricky winds that this could be the only opportunity I would have to see them.
Well, did I miss something? What did you do as a volunteer?
ReplyDeleteIn Part 1 dated January the 4th, at the very end of the Post I wrote:
DeleteEach of the last two years I have "Worked" the 5 and the 10 Kilometer runs on Saturday morning. Today I again signed up for this specific assignment because "I know the ropes".
Then again at the end of Part 3 I wrote:
Tomorrow morning (8 AM to 11 AM) I will be in action as a volunteer for the 5K and 10K runs.
In other years I have gone into great detail as to what this entails. Thanks for your interest. Cap
Beautiful balloons. Pictures can never do them justice. I have only seen a few up close. when I worked in Napa, I would frequently see them on my way to work or from my office parking lot. I would hope for a red light so I got to stop for a bit and gaze at them. They weren't as fancy as some of yours but still fun to see. I am glad they got in some flying time. It would have been awful if they had never been able to get in the air.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed the photos can't do justice to the Hot Air Balloons Kathleen. Some years they never get into the air. So we were lucky to have one (Friday) morning that was really great. Thanks Kathleen for your interest and support. Cap and Patti
