THIS IS what I love about India.. yesterday.. Wednesday.. November 16th.. I took an all-day.. seven-bus trip from ARAMBOL BEACH to MARGAO.. I was up at 5:30AM.. out the door at 6:30AM.. and onto a local bus south for Mapusa.. and another local bus south for Panjim.. and a third local bus south for Margao.. Margao was my destination and I had a real agenda let me tell you..
As I was leaving the Margao Railway Station.. where I changed and I re-booked my entire GOA visit.. I was tiring out and beginning to 'run-out-of-gas'.. it was hot and I was walking along the roadway back into the center of Margao.. when the above.. hard to see him but I did the best I could in the circumstances.. himself a senior citizen.. pulled up beside me and he said to me .. "SIR.. may I offer you a ride somewhere ! ?" ..
I thought.. "GOD.. is it possible you REALLY EXIST and are this active in my daily life ?"
I was flat exhausted.. so I said to him.. "SIR.. I need a lift to the main bus stand.. do you know of it SIR? " .. he smiled and gestured and said .. "Hop on the back" ..
And out and off we went.. all the way through Margoa.. and to its extreme outskirts.. when we pulled into the maze the main bus stand is.. he put me down and said .. "SIR.. there is your DIRECT bus north to Panjim.. get your ticket over there SIR !"
I slipped him a fifty rupee note and shook his hand and waived him off.. we BOTH were very happy campers..
OH YEAH.. this incident is what I LOVE ABOUT INDIA..
