A Promise Made IS A Debt Unpaid. ROBERT W. SERVICE
Several times, in various recent Posts that I have published about Muscat, Oman, I have slipped in a photo of a local attraction commonly called The Incense Burner.
I have promised to do a Post about The Incense Burner.
While riding on my first tour with the Muscat BIG BUS, I saw a beautiful, white, absolutely stunning structure high upon a hill as we approached the Mutrah Souq area.
Because I am constantly snapping photos and moving around the bus from side to side, I was not connected to the BIG BUS information system. At the Mutrah Souq stop, I asked a BIG BUS employee what the white structure was. I was told that it is The Incense Burner.
On the spot, I made up my mind that I was going to find out more about The Incense Burner and even go up to see it if I could.
To accomplish my mission, I hired a taxi to take me to the Incense Burner. I also had my taxi driver take me to several other places I wished to see up close and personal.
Technically The Incense Burner is the Frankincense Burner or the Mabkhara.
The Frankincense Burner / Mabkhara is located in a small park in the Mutrah Souq area of Muscat called Al Riyam Park. I really loved this small park. Al Riyam Park was clean and well maintained. I was NOT able to walk up the hill to the Frankincense Burner / Mabkhara but the trip was well worth the cost (US $100 plus a gratuity of US $18) of my personal taxi tour that included the Grand Mosque, Opera House, Natural Park and other attractions.
AL RIYAM PARK. HOME OF THE FRANKINCENSE BURNER / MABKHARA.
Here is the beauty of having your own taxi and driver at your disposal.
On the BIG BUS tour, three times I passed this beautiful fountain in this roundabout. I was not able to get a decent photo of it.
The first time it just appeared and was gone as we whizzed past it. The second time I was looking for it but again it surprised me. The third time I got a blurry photo not worth saving.
"Mohamed, please let me get out here. I want to do a photo shoot of this fountain."
"Hi Dad! Isn't this fountain of mine so nice Dad!"
/ SIGNED / MISS MUSCAT who is so proud of herself and of her attractions.
Do all of you see the large Cruise Ship in the background above?
"Pardon me Mohammed?"
"They are NOT Cruise Ships Mohammed?"
"Oh! They belong to The Sultan of Oman. I see Mohammed."
Somewhere in one of my Posts I said there was a Rest of The Story about the cruise ships. Now you know, The Rest of The Story.
And here I thought there was some big time money in Hong Kong. Oh My.
AL RIYAM PARK.
A nice amusement Park within AL RIYAM PARK.
The Muscat, Oman, FRANKINCENSE BURNER.
Good Bye to you AL RIYAM PARK in Muscat in Oman.
"Yes indeed. I could live my life out in Muscat in the Sultanate of Oman."

We are now in AL RIYAM PARK.
Yes, there is a path up to The Frankincense Burner but the gate was locked shut. Notice the two taxis above. I was not the only one who hired a taxi to get up here to Al Riyam Park.Do all of you see the large Cruise Ship in the background above?

So nice to see Al Riyam Park up close and personal, including the Frankincense Burner and the beautiful fountain...well worth the $$$ spent with your own taxi driver. WOW ... the "cruise ships" are personal "boats" belonging to The Sultan of Oman. Now THAT shouts MONEY!!! Smiles and hugs. Patti
ReplyDeleteI am so pleased you liked this Post of Al Riyam Park and of the Frankincense Burner. Oh My !! Oh Yes !! The Rest of The Story about the cruise ships is that The Cruise Ships are The Sultan's Ships. I was stunned when my taxi driver Mohammed quietly told me this fact. And here I thought THE MONEY was all over in Hong Kong. Much Joy and Love .. Cap aka Kanbaatar

Great sunny fall weather, tonight we go off Daylight Saving Time back to Eastern Standard, so winter is right around the corner.Enjoy your visit there, I will peek in at posts 2-3 times a week as an average.
