SKIING .. IN BAYKALSK, RUSSIA .. IN AUGUST ?
No! But they sure were skiing in Baykalsk, Russia, on April 6th, when we visited.
On the weekend of April 6-7, 2019, Patti and I, along with friends here in Irkutsk who drove us in their automobile, took a trip down to the Slyudyanka area.
Below is a link to a dot.net Post showing this area:

In the map at the very bottom of the above dot.net Post, you will see where Baykalsk is located relative to Irkutsk, Slyudyanka and Lake Baikal.
Because I may be returning to Baykalsk the weekend of August 16-18, I decided to now go-back-in-time and show photos of the amazing Baykalsk Skiing Area.
'Zilla : This sure is not a restaurant review BUT, I know that skiing is near and dear to your heart!
And off to the ski slopes we go.

Below are maps showing the ski slopes and the degree of difficulty of each.
The ones in red are considered to be very difficult.
The red dots indicate very difficult slopes.
Here we are, the real deal. Snow and skiing.
April 6th. You'd think that we are in Russian Siberia wouldn't you?
Novice that I am, I consider the below slope grooming machinery to be serious equipment.
Two very beautiful and happy ladies. My Dear One, this was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
There you have it.
BAYKALSK. A look at a premier skiing area here in Russian Siberia.

What a day that was back in April! Having lived in a ski area here in Alaska for 16 years, ski areas are near and dear to my heart. Nice to get these photos up on a post. Smiling, as in the pictures . . . Patti
ReplyDeleteSo pleased you enjoyed this Post. Nice to have it to refer back to. I had to go searching for the photos as I am behind (a vast understatement) in my cataloging of my hundreds (thousands?) of photos. Two great photos of you smiling from ear-to-ear. A once-in-this-lifetime visit. Much Love .. Cap
