Give me a break!
How does one 'Do a Post' about The Dubai Mall?
Got it!
Wikipedia where on Earth would I be without you.
The Dubai Mall (Arabic: دبي مول) is a shopping mall in Dubai and the largest mall in the world by total area. Along with West Edmonton Mall in Canada, it is the nineteenth largest shopping mall in the world by gross leaseable area.
Located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, it is part of the 20-billion-dollar Downtown complex, and includes 1,200 shops. In 2011 it was the most visited building on the planet, attracting over 54 million visitors.
If I would have taken the time to think about what to photograph at The Dubai Mall, I would not have shot one photo. The Dubai Mall is, in a word, overwhelming.
I have published a Post on Dot.Net about the handicapped man using a cane in the below photo. He and his wife and I became fast friends.
Here is the link to my story about them.

What a a great experience visiting The Dubai Mall was.
Over and out for now ..
Cap
"What's that 'Zilla?" ..
"If The Dubai Mall has something for everyone, did I purchase anything?" ..
"As a matter of fact I certainly made an extremely important purchase at the mall!"
Above you see a USB cable that will connect my Nikon camera to my computer. If you will recall, a few days ago I nearly lost the one USB cable I have with me. Somehow I left the states without the usual backup cable I always have had with me previously.
THANK YOU GULLIBLE for not commenting on the fact I did not have a spare USB cable with me. You want dumb? Traveling without a spare is DUMB.

To the right in the above photo, if you look extremely closely, you can just barely see a building. Now look at the below two photos. You can see it a little more clearly.
No! This is the Burj Khalifa! It is sometimes called The Burj Dubai.
The Burj Khalifa is the tallest structure in the world.

I won't comment on the lack on a spare USB cord. I'll just close this comment with the theme song from Dragnet: dum-de-dum-dum....
ReplyDeleteLet me tell you I was shocked to find I had NO spare USB cord. It just happened .. and I have no idea how it got away from me .. I did not bring my spare cord on this trip. Thanks to an upscale camera shop in The Dubai Mall now I have an extra cord. Smiles, Cap
DeleteThe REAL focus of this post ... on the man and wife from Iran that you befriended and "rolled with" for the duration of the tour, brought me to tears. They appear to be so gentle. And I cheer for them that they are getting on with their lives, coping with their challenges gallantly. Good on ya My Captain. I love you dearly. Patti
ReplyDeleteSo happy you too were touched, moved, by the experience I had with the couple. I did them justice over on Dot.Net. I will never forget them. I have already forgotten some of the things I heard on the tour. Love, Cap
