My hotel Al Farej is in a part of Dubai called Al Murar.
Do all of you remember this special orientation sign located out near my hotel in Al Murar that I showed you in a previous Post?
In the below photo can you find Al Ras, Community 112?
Will all of you look at what I came upon. Another SIGN!
Do you see my Al Murar to the right below?
What a great thing these neighborhood orientation signs are!
In the Al Ras community, our tour group visited an elderly and kind of funky, nifty, area of Dubai known as ..
Old Souk
Below are photos of a spice / nut shop that passed out free samples in a significantly large quantity. I was embarrassed at how much they would put into your open hand.
A nice odor was present in the spice / nut shop!
Below are the bins from whence came the free samples.
In the lowest bin above you see some stone-like, multi-colored pebbles. I was afraid I would break a tooth.
The clerk smiled and said, "Sir, it is chocolate." .. "Have more Sir." ..
And yes your Captain took even more. Then embarrassed I slipped him a 10 Dirham note. He was shocked. I'll bet no one does that.
What they do DO Captain is that they purchase what they like from the samples.
Spices, Nuts and Gold! What a mix!
Nice area to walk in. Nice? Wonderful is a better word.
A short but I hope a sweet little Post today.
Amazing! Absolutely, positively amazing. Here I am in Dubai.
Cap the Amazed One!

Fun post ... made me chuckle. The community orientation signs are great! And the 'funky, nifty little mall' was delightful. I also wondered what the bright, multi-colored bin was at the spice/nut shop, and really chuckled when you said you slipped the shop-keeper some money for all of the free samples he gave you! Sweet!! Nice to see the couple from Iran in your last picture ... love, Patti
ReplyDeleteI am happy you liked this short Post. Yes, the couple from Iran again appear. When I snapped that photo I was not aware that I was also taking a candid photo of them. It was fun at the spice and nut shop also. Neat community information signs for sure. Much Love, Cap
DeleteDid you buy some nuts?
ReplyDeleteNO I did not because .. Can YOU eat just one nut? Next thing all of the nuts would be gone with me wanting more nuts. Also which nuts to purchase. The plain salted cashew nuts or the hot spicy (oh yum) seasoned cashews. Smiles, Cap
