This is Part I of a two part post showing the Kowloon YMCA. This post will focus on exterior views. Part II that follows this post concentrates on the interior of the YMCA.
In this Post I'll show you exterior views of the YMCA.
To begin with I am going to show you several photos that I snapped of the YMCA from the upper deck of a Hong Kong city bus.
Using the red bus straight ahead as a point of reference .. the YMCA is to the left of the bus. You can see the letters YMCA on the building in the below photo.
In the below photo we have moved up Salisbury Road closer to the YMCA on the left below.
Below you really get a good look at the front of the YMCA.
Below are scenes of the YMCA as viewed from the Star Ferry that Patti and I rode on a Victoria harbor cruise. Do all of you see the YMCA below?
Below you can see the harbor view side of the YMCA.
In the below photo .. taken from ground level .. you can see that it is an imposing structure.
The YMCA at 41 Salisbury Road in the Tsim Sha Tsui District in Kowloon is ONE OF MY FAVORITE places to stay in the world.

In the below view .. the YMCA is the building on your immediate right which you see only partially.
It is a tad difficult to tell .. but the tall building you see to the left below is behind the YMCA. This is the Peninsula Hotel and I show a photo of its tower as viewed from my Dorm Room five photos below.
A good view of the front of the YMCA.
Below again you can see part of the tower section of the Peninsula Hotel across from and behind the YMCA.
The below photo looks directly straight-across from my Dorm room at the 'elder' portion of the famous Peninsula Hotel immediately across the street from the YMCA.
This photo looks up from the Dorm Room at the tower of the Peninsula Hotel across the street. You can see another view of this tower five photographs above.
And lastly .. this below photo just looks 'down the hallway' of the 9th floor. The Dorm Rooms are all the the left and their views from their windows look at the Peninsula Hotel shown above. The rooms on the right side of the below photo have partial 'views' of Victoria Harbor and cost a minimum of four times more than a bed in the dorms .. $1,320 HK$ as opposed to $330 HK$ for a bed in the four-bed Dorm rooms.
Below are the 'views' from the rooms on the right side of the above hallway.
Smiles .. Cap

The YMCA here in Beloit looks like a shack compared to Hong Kong's!! Oh well, I use it for walks during my lunch break during the winter. It's very convenient so I shouldn't complain but in comparison to these photos, it's not impressive.

Shaddy it just goes to show you how ADVANCED HONG KONG is. The YMCA is formally rated as a Three-Star Hotel. They have so many active programs for the community that you would be pressed to believe them all. Smiles .. Cap in Hong Kong ..
DeleteGreat post of the YMCA...made me feel like I was right back walking the neighborhood, enjoying the comfortable lobby, and enjoying the dorm room. It IS a great place to stay...close to so many things, especially our favorite Victoria Harbor with her Star Ferry fleet!! Love, Patti
ReplyDeleteSo nice you lived this Post having been here. It is an amazing facility isn't it? Love .. Cap ..
