DEC 18, 14 .. KOWLOON YMCA PART II .. INTERIOR VIEWS ..

This is Part II of a two part Post of the Kowloon YMCA.  The exterior views of the YMCA are shown in Part I preceding this post. This post will show you interior views of the YMCA here in Kowloon.

The YMCA at 41 Salisbury Road in the Tsim Sha Tsui District in Kowloon is ONE OF MY FAVORITE places to stay in the world.

Before I start I cannot help but think of my friends from France .. Clement and Patricia and Merlin who met me here in Kowloon several years ago!

Because some of you may not have seen my post titled Part I that is devoted to the exterior views of the YMCA .. here are a few photos of the exterior of the Kowloon YMCA.

Turn to your right in the above photo and you can really see the front of the YMCA.

Now into the Lobby we go.

The Kowloon YMCA is such a phenomenal place! The photo that follows the below photo is taken by turning to your left and looking straight ahead.

In the below photo .. the Lobby photos that I have shown above are to the right of the furniture you see below.

Below is a casual dining room that is off to the left of the above photo.

IT IS CHRISTMAS SEASON IN HONG KONG!

CHRISTMAS IS BIG IN HONG KONG!

CHRISTMAS IS BIG at the YMCA (C is for Christian).

Patti asked me to Post some Christmas scenes in the YMCA lobby.

The Christmas Tree was the first sign of Christmas to arrive in the Lobby.

Then came the ginger bread house and the manger.

A close-up of the bottom of the Christmas Tree.

What would Christmas be without a ginger bread house!

What would Christmas be without a Manger scene!

Now I will take you for a look at the dormitory rooms which Patti and I stayed in during her visit to Hong Kong in November.

The dorm rooms are bright and airy and pleasant.

To your right in the above photo against the wall opposite of the bunk beds is the below desk and writing area.

Now turn around and look back and below you see the entry door into the dorm and your four vertical storage lockers on the left below. You also see the A and the B bunk beds.

A close look at the area immediately inside the room as you enter.

A look at additional storage space underneath the above area inside of the entryway door.

Now we will look inside of the vertical storage lockers you see below marked with a B and an A. There are also C and D storage lockers for their respective bunk beds.

The top (above) and bottom (below) of the vertical storage lockers.

The security 'safe' you see above and below is a nice feature of the dorm rooms!

Now we will look to the right of the below photo at the dorm room.

Below we step forward and look to our right to see the common area between the four bunk beds.

The common rest room is clean and efficient.

Below is a photo of what the room looks like with me in it!

Now we will walk out of the door of the dorm room ..

We will turn to our right and walk to the end of the hallway you see below ..

When we get to the end of the above hallway we will turn to our left and see the below scene .. the PCCW public pay telephone on the 9th floor of the YMCA.

I cannot possibly estimate how many telephone calls that I have made from this PCCW pay phone over the years that I have stayed at the Kowloon YMCA.

What I CAN tell you is this:

Looking out of the above window as I am on the telephone is one of my favorite things to enjoy when I am at the Kowloon YMCA.

To this point in time .. I have spent more nights staying in the Kowloon YMCA that I have spent in any other place in the Hong Kong Metro Area.

Thank You for letting me share this with you!  Smiles .. Cap ..

I really got in over my head with the above two part series of posts.  What to say? I hope that someone reading along here enjoys these two posts.

  1. BOBBA CAPS,

Thanks for the blog. I found my way here as I was Googling for "Salisbury Dormitory". I decided several months ago to stay here, but as my visit to H.K. towards the end of April 2012 is approaching I decided to find some photos. Your photos are exactly what I was looking for and gives me a good idea what to expect.

I took the time to look at your other Hong Kong posts and was quite impressed, especially about how much the lease (rent) is in H.K.

Once again, thanks for the photo tour.

    Cheers, Jack

  3. Did the maker of the gingerbread house use 1709 as a template. The stone work and grout of both facades is remarkably similar
