DEC 22, 14 .. ST. TERESA'S HOSPITAL ..

On the 15th of May 2008 .. When I was leaving San Francisco to fly to Hong Kong .. I was sick enough with lung issues that my friends practically begged me to delay my flight and get medical help in San Francisco.

I told my innermost circle of friends one of two things was going to happen:

1.  I would be so sick physically that I would simply be unable to get to the airport.  That is my medical condition would DEMAND that I would literally need an ambulance to transport me to the emergency room at U.C. Medical Center in San Francisco!

OR?

2.  I was flying to Hong Kong.

I flew to Hong Kong as scheduled. After a few days here in Kowloon .. at the URGING of Patti AND my good friend and associate who was with me here in Kowloon (Hong Kong) .. Jim C. 33037 .. I checked into St. Teresa's Hospital.

I saw a Doctor almost immediately (10 minutes) .. received a diagnosis of my medical condition and needs thereof .. was given the necessary prescription medicine .. and left St. Teresa's Hospital in just under two hours at a total cost to me of Sixty Eight ($68) U.S. Dollars!

THINK ABOUT THAT .. Into the E.R. .. Doctor visit .. Prescription Medicine on-the-spot at the hospital .. Out the door .. In just under two hours at a total cost of Sixty Eight ($68) U.S. Dollars.

Over six (6) years have passed since late May 2008. Today I revisited St. Teresa's Hospital.

I want you all to see .. and I want you all to meet-through-me St. Teresa's Hospital in Kowloon .. Hong Kong .. China.

St. Teresa's Hospital is located at 327 Prince Edward Road, Kowloon, Hong Kong.

St. Teresa's seems to be located in a middle class section of Kowloon.

Below I look directly across Prince Edward Road.  Then in the next two photos I turn to my right and look up the road towards St. Teresa's Hospital.

In the below photo .. on the right edge .. through the trees .. can you see a white building? This is St. Teresa's Hospital.

We are going to walk up the sidewalk and see the below scenes.

Turning to my right we look up the main entrance road.

In the lower left corner of the above photo we see the OUT-PATIENT DEPARTMENT I show below.

We are here 24/7 365 days a year for you! .. /s/ St. Teresa's.

In the five above photos I walked you past the buildings on the left of the main entrance road.  Below I am going to take you up the main entrance road proper.

Turn to your left to see the main entrance.

The below photo was taken of another entrance. It is all St. Teresa's Hospital and Medical Centre.

It amazes me how things seem to almost magically fit together in a Post.  When I snapped the below photo I did NOT notice the round green and white sign.  I was just photographing this other entrance to the hospital.
It was as I was leaving St. Teresa's when I noticed the below!
NOTE if you will the round .. green and white circular sign .. on the window below.

I want to interject a quick thought here.  I become very attached to MY places and to MY things.

St. Teresa's Hospital is one of MY places!  As such I am very proud and fairly bursting-at-my-seams with joy in sharing her with you all. I was SO DEEPLY TOUCHED by what is located here in MY Hospital!

Ah-h-h assumptions are so dangerous!  Just in case you have been living-under-a-rock some place and are totally out-of-touch with our contemporary life .. I am showing you a close up photo of the green and white circular sign in the above photo.

Hi Baba Kaps .. I am a nine year old child living in India who knows Raj in Herbert Pur in Dehradun India 248 142. I don't know what the green and white sign is Baba.

YES! IN MY HOSPITAL!  Here in China! I am so proud!

Isn't MY hospital so nice!

The time has come I suppose to get down to business here! I did NOT come out to St. Teresa's just for-something-to-do!

I have two issues going.

One I have developed what feel to me like serious bed-sores on my bottom from sitting for hours and hours and more hours here putting up Posts day after day after day.

The other is I blew up my ankles racing down from up near Victoria Peak to the lower levels of Hong Kong with a physically fit runner half my age and I kept up with him.

How is that for a real catch-22? It's a bit of a challenge to sit and also to stand.

To save my bottom I am now standing as I write.  This makes my ankles more sore and swollen and my legs are now feeling dead and lifeless.

My chiropractor and acupuncture practitioner are working on my legs and ankles. My visit today was strictly for the horrific condition on my bottom.

Down to business.

Does St. Teresa's Hospital look WELCOMING to any of you?

What do I see peeking-out-at-me in the below right?

We are heading for the OUT-PATIENT department you see in the distance below to the left of the Christmas Tree.

Christmas in Hong Kong! Who'da Thunk!

Do you see the OUT-PATIENT department in the distance on the below right.

We have arrived and it is crunch-time.

I will not tell you how fast the line moved! You would NOT believe me! In 2008 I said this: The Chinese KNOW HOW to deal with many people quickly and extremely efficiently!

Nothing wrong with showing this photo again!

"Yes?" .. "Sores on my buttocks." .. "Dermatology 1/F East Wing. The lift is over there Sir!" .. "Next in line!" ..

About fifteen (15) seconds.

NO DRAMA. NO INSURANCE QUESTIONS. JUST FAST ACTION!

MY hospital .. MY safe .. MY nice place.

It is NOT your imagination!  IT IS IMMACULATE!

I am back home from May 2008.

"Nice to see you back Sir! Your last visit was in May of 2008. Are you still living at 41 Salisbury Road Sir? I will update your address to 13-15 Hillier Street over in Sheung Wan. How may we help you today!"

"Fine. We will fit you into Doctor Chan's schedule. It will not be too long Sir. Please sit down over there Sir."

Have I told you this place is spotless and immaculate!

"What? I just sat down and got out some Post Cards to write!"

Five minutes maybe.

Super Razor Sharp Doctor Chan Sheung Hey Thomas. About 40 years old I would guess. Perfect English.

I am going to be living in Sheung Wan over in Hong Kong Doctor Chan! We two clicked over a name we have-in-common! It takes what it takes with the Captain here!

Thank You Doctor Chan. I will go down to the Pharmacy.

Young lady I too would wear a mask IF I worked in a hospital! No I don't have anything contagious! Oh come on! You have seen an elderly Western Male! No sorry I am not Mick Jagger! Got it .. you don't like your photo taken!

A photo can say one thousand words?

One very old friend in the Cetaphil and one (I suppose) new heavy hitter in the Elomet Cream used just one time a day!

Captain the time has come to wrap-this-up.

What did I do here?

I Checked In with the Out Patient Department where I was referred to the Dermatology Department. In the Dermatology Department I was checked-in as an individual and after a ridiculously short wait  I saw a Doctor and received a Diagnosis and a Prescription. I then Went to the Pharmacy and received my prescription medicine.

And almost as a complete after thought I was politely asked to pay my bill with one of four options (Visa or Master Charge or American Express or cash) for all of the above.

The cost for all of this?

I really can't quite believe that they actually use these Mandarin Characters.

Confused?

Below is all you need to know .. THE BOTTOM LINE!

Six Hundred and Ninety Six Hong Kong Dollars is Eighty Nine United States Dollars and Eighty One Cents.  $89.81.

My friends in the United States .. We are in real trouble I believe with our medical costs!

This visit to a Hospital in the United States would cost hundreds of dollars and very probably into the one to two thousand dollar range.

Miu Miu My Little Sweet Heart .. Thank You So Much for keeping me company this afternoon!

No problem My Captain .. I am watching how you do this computer thing!

Besides my mom doesn't mind and because she doesn't mind me watching you I can get away from this awful homework. Your language seems so simple compared to this Mandarin that I am burdened with. Can I go home with you to the U.S. so I can learn this easy English? Your twenty six simple letters are a joke!

O'M God Pastor Earl in Manley Hot Springs Alaska 997556! Your Baptists have married-up with the Roman Catholics here in Hong Kong.

The BAPTIST CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL!

Can any of you in the U.S. imagine having to learn thousands of these Mandarin Characters!

Another miracle Captain!

How on earth do you manage to pull these Posts off? You following along with me as readers actually think that I know what I am doing! This dressy Post here on blogspot actually belongs over on dot.net .. my down and dirty .. nitty gritty .. Word Press Web Site where life is real and oh so very earnest!

MUCH JOY .. Cap

  1. Yet another very efficient and productive visit to St. Teresa's Hospital...glad you FINALLY went. However, it would seem you did not ask them anything about your ankles while you were there. Maybe they are not bothering you anymore. Thank you St. Teresa's Hospital for taking care of my guy! Love, Patti

    1. The intake staff are equipped to deal with one complaint at a time. They do a quick evaluation and send you to a specialist. Right now this skin condition is what is bothering me the most AND ALREADY I have some relief. The ankles are still being worked upon by the Chiropractor and acupuncture practitioner. Much Love .. 2. No secret that patients in the US subsidize the medical industry.

Years ago Ken went to Algodones, across the border from El Paso, and had a dental exam, cleaning, x-rays, one extraction, fifteen root canals, seventeen crowns, and a filling or two for about $3700, and all the work was done in a week.

    1. WOW. I have also heard good things about the dental work in Mexico. I cannot conceive of all the work Ken had done in one week. You are getting to be a short timer. Smiles .. Can't wait to follow your next journey. Smiles .. Cap ..

  3. The efficiency of St. Teresa's Hospital is mind-boggling in comparison to U.S. medical facilities. I'm glad you're getting to the bottom of things regarding your buttocks. Tee hee. Just a little humor to ease your discomfort. I hope the cream works well for you. Standing for long periods of time surely isn't good for your legs and ankles.

I feel bad that sitting is painful for you and standing isn't so great either.

You've impressed me immensely in your post. Hong Kong is impressive, indeed!!

    1. Isn't the spotless and immaculate condition of St. Teresa's amazing. And the speed at which they process incoming patients mirrored my year 2008 experience. I just posted above that ALREADY I am feeling great relief for the skin condition. Sitting hours on end on a hard wooden stool is a challenge. I should purchase a seat cushion. Put Hong Kong on your bucket list Shaddy and Lon! Much Joy .. Cap ..
