DEC 25, 14 .. CHRISTMAS IN HONG KONG 2014 ..

CHRISTMAS 2014 IN HONG KONG!

JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON!

Allow me to begin with another of my Rhetorical Questions:

Is it possible that Christmas in Hong Kong China is a bigger event than it is in the United States?

NO! It is PROBABLE that Christmas here in Hong Kong is a bigger event than back home in the U.S.!

GOTCHA!

I am here in Hong Kong and you are not, so how can you comment on this rhetorical question that I pose?  The car with its two headlights showing in the below photo is a Police Car. There was no traffic on Nathan Road this Christmas Eve.

The two major roads in Tsim Sha Tsui in Kowloon .. Nathan Road and Salisbury Road .. as well as many of the feeder roads were COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN on Christmas Eve!

Nathan Road was JUMPING on Christmas Eve! The girls below were like a herd of kittens! I could not get them to all look at me at the same time or at anytime for that matter! The below girls were just part of a longer Chorus Line of Christmas Kittens!

The Peninsula Hotel on Salisbury Road was decked out for Christmas!

The fountain in front of the Peninsula Hotel.

DISCLAIMER: Many of you .. Most of you perhaps? .. Have seen many? .. Have seen most ? ..

Of the below photographs.

So why am I bothering to show them again? Because only a scant few of you .. Most of you ?!  Follow my web site daily and I keep getting e-mails asking me ..

"Cap .. What is Christmas in Hong Kong like?"

I thought that I have already shown you many photographs of what Christmas in Hong Kong is like.

Here we go again .. from the top! ..

MERRY CHRISTMAS from HONG KONG!

Did we have Christmas Dinner in Hong Kong?

Did we ever have Christmas Dinner here in Hong Kong!

A young lady at Christmas Dinner with her parents absolutely touched my heart and touched my soul! This young Chinese Girl just patiently and with great devotion and love and with extreme concentration and dedication slowly worked away at getting each and every single morsel of Turkey that could humanly be gotten from the remains of one GIANT TURKEY!

Sweet heart! You will forever remain in-my-mind as one of my great memories of Christmas Day here in Hong Kong!

She did not look up nor was she distracted by my presence! She was on a mission!

Lord! What would Christmas be without our Christmas Dog Lychee!

Oops! Lychee! You lost your red Christmas Bandana!

Many at dinner were decked out for Christmas!

Rudolph and I nearly exploded eating chocolates!

From across the room came a voice .. "Cap you missed a chocolate over here!"

O.K. .. That will be it for Christmas Dinner 2014 that I was so honored to celebrate with a room FULL of sober friends and their families.

It is time to see more of Christmas in Hong Kong.

Below is a photo that I snapped of a Christmas Tree outside of a small bar next to my HOMY INN on Chatham Road South in Kowloon.

Wait until you all see what building the below decorations were on!

Not clear enough? .. How about below!

Captain Oh Captain .. MUST we crane our necks to look up again at another Hong Kong High Rise Building?

Is Hong Kong beautiful? Yes!

Red Christmas flowers!

We are looking at two of the premier downtown buildings .. THE Bank of China above and the Lippo Center below and they both are celebrating Christmas!

Into the lobby we go!

Do all of you realize that in these two prominent buildings are important CEO's who are among THE movers and THE shakers in Hong Kong. These and other Hong Kong CEO's are making the decision that we in Hong Kong will honor and we in Hong Kong will celebrate Christmas!

What a building the Lippo Center is! Lord! What a place Hong Kong is! And .. for a few months .. Patti and I are residents of Hong Kong.

Do you all see the Christmas decorations in the two photos above?

Happy Christmas Shoppers down in the MTR.

And .. Constantly .. All over Hong Kong .. Christmas Carols playing over public address systems.

More Christmas decorations in Hong Kong.

A few close-up photos of the decorations beside the elevator.

I can only do the best that I can do with my photographs. You really need to be here to fully appreciate the phenomenal beauty of the scenes I am showing to you.

Some one has to design and some one has to put all of these decorations in place.

The below decorations are in the Mariner's Club here in Kowloon. Do you see the meeting sign in the background?

In the extreme upper left hand corner of the above photo you will see a ship model in a display case. Notice the decorations on the top of the display case. Below is a close-up photo of them.

The decorations go on and on and on all over Hong Kong .. exterior and interior .. it is stunning.

Below are photos of the decorations at 26 Nathan Road.

On we go with Christmas in Hong Kong.

And a nice close-up look at the decorations.

Little Miu Miu herself is decked out for Christmas!

Below are photos showing Christmas decorations at the 1881 HERITAGE Building on Salisbury Road in Kowloon.

A favorite photograph that I captured of Patti looking up in wonder and in awe at the Christmas Trees.

How about the two photos below to wrap up 1881 HERITAGE!

WHEW Huh! I hope you all see that Christmas at 1881 HERITAGE is a big deal!

Below some photos taken over in Hong Kong in the Sheung Wan District where Patti and I have a studio apartment.

A few photos of Christmas Decorations in Hong Kong Park.

On the street in Hong Kong.

Yes! Of Course! You expect Christmas Decorations in the YMCA don't you! Well you won't be disappointed!

Lord God Of Abraham ..

IF I never again have the honor and the privilege to celebrate and to experience Christmas in Hong Kong China .. I did so this Christmas.

I Thank You So Very Much For Christmas 2014!

Your Servant .. Cap ..

Ah, YES, they DO celebrate and decorate for Christmas in Hong Kong, even to the point of closing down two of the MAJOR roads on Christmas Eve! Seeing pictures of the room where you enjoyed a nice Christmas dinner and welcoming company was also nice...it completed the picture for me of all the happy voices and the children squealing in the background when you called last night. Fun to see the little girl so intently going after every last morsel of turkey. And, nice to see Lychee spreading Christmas snuggles! Thanks for the lovely tour of Christmas in Hong Kong!! Love, Patti

  7. It has to be very overwhelming to be surrounded by the grandeur of a Hong Kong Christmas. They do Christmas in a huge way!

I especially adore the enormous1881 Heritage candle with the pixies hovering above and beside it.

    Splendid blog post, Cap.

  8. Cap,
Happy New Year my FRIEND. Just recieved another of your cherished post cards from abroad, and it immediately put a smile on my face. I can't tell you how much I enjoy getting these from you, THANKS !!! Glad to see you having fun and getting every last bit out of LIFE. To answer your question, YES, I am following your travels. Be safe, be healthy and look me up when you arrive home.
P.S. The Lions lost. They put up a gallant fight and had a great Season. Fun to watch. A small bit of solace from their loss, they don't have to go up to Seattle and be possibly embarrassed.

    Cheers, Erik

    Erik.

P.S. The Lions lost yesterday at Dallas. They put up a gallant effort but came up just short. The season was fun to watch and they played well for the most part. There is some solace in the loss, and that is they don't have to travel to Seattle and possibly be embarrassed.....
