Mike and I, along with two friends here in Abakan, made a trip today to visit the Sayano–Shushenskaya Dam* which is said to be the highest dam in Russia.
*I am not going to discuss our visit to the dam in this Post. Suffice-it-to-say I was sadly mistaken when I said previously that it was North of Abakan.
I am able to read the road signs and when I saw the below sign..
I said to my three cohorts, "Hey! We are on the road to Kyzyl (КЫЗЫЛ ). That means we are SOUTH of Abakan!"
The three of them sort of did a ho-hum, and said quizzically, "Yes. You are correct Cap."
The Sayano–Shushenskaya Dam IS SOUTH of Abakan.
If you go to dot.net you will see a map showing the location of the dam and Shushehskoe.

En route to the dam, we stopped for lunch in Shushenskoye (Шушенское ).
Trust your Captain here, I am NOT going to expect any of you to remember Shushenskoye ( Шушенское ).
It was a great lunch stop and I decided to share it with you.
What did all of this food cost? U.S. $6.33.
Below is Alexander, our point-man here in Abakan.

All that good looking food for $7. Amazing. Looks like a place where you likely had many options to choose from for what to eat. Nice lunch stop. Hugs. Patti
ReplyDeleteAmazing the low cost for some great food in Shushenkoye what a name. I'm sure it has a meaning. I'm doing a second Post about the town / village today. Thank You so much for your comment. And now Survivor is over until the next episode in a few months. Smiles and Love .. Cap
ReplyDeleteCap had the borscht? Really? And what was in the plastic bowl?
ReplyDeleteAlexander's wife sent along a lunch for the three of us. That lunch was what was in the plastic bowl. I don't think any of us touched her lunch gift.
DeleteI still can't see the Dam on your maps. I'll be patient until you post it. Gord
ReplyDeleteGord you aren't going to find it on the map. At least I haven't been able to do so. It is amazing that the dam does NOT seem to have impounded a reservoir of any significant magnitude. Smiles .. Cap
